Shut down with a bootable CD + Black Screen

Hi,

From more than a year, I can't boot with a bootable CD without praying for God.
It becomes dramatic.

My laptop shut down unexpectedly when doing a memory test, after 4 minutes.
I tried several times.

On the other hand, I have a KSOD issue from one year or more that it could be linked to the firs issue (see at the top):

- KSOD before the 'Welcome' screen where all accounts appearing: user account, admin account, guest account...
- KSOD when logging into my user and/or admin account (before appearing the dekstop)
- KSOD when I switch into another account, ie, from my user account to admin account (KSOD during more than 15sec)
- KSOD when closing my account

Let me know if you or someone here in this forum, could help me to fix this issue. Let me know where I can submit on this forum.

I disabled my drivers one by one on Bios and on the Device Manager to find the culprit, but I couldn't find anything: Black screen is always appeared.

I have the latest drivers, checked with the manufacturer Fujitsu Siemens site, even if they don't make any update since 2008.

PS: Six months ago, I formatted my HD (low-level format) and reinstall with the manufacturer Installation DVD, but this haven't solved my troubles.

Thanks for your help ! :D

Welcome Back

There are several causes for a black screen. First, back up your stuff.
Now test the hard drive.

Test Hard Drive

Harddrive scan usings SeaTools - SeaToolsfor Windows | Seagate - Both long and shorttests
If you pass, go to search by the start button, type device manager. In device manager, update the drivers for your CD drives.

If youpass there are many other causes. Here is a list and what to try.
DO NOT try anything that you do not understand as you may cause other problems. I would be very CAREFUL with the suggestions that involve registry as this can indeed cause serious problems, unless you are proficient in that area.

Am looking at your Windows Updates. You have no updates for 2010 and 2011. What happend that may have caused you to lose or not receive updates?

SeaTools is suppose to work with any HD.
Test HD first.

Be sure that you heed my warnings about Rounup, especially concerning the registry.

Hi rich,

1. Corrupt Event Logs: doesn't fix Ksod
2. Remote Procedure Call service (RPC) – Wrong User: - don't understand what it is, I skip it
3. Ntndis.exe Fix: I checked my registry, I don't have such file on Shell
4. lsass.sys Fix: Don't find this file, it appearing to be a important file from Microsoft (after doing search in google)
5. Headcult’s Shell Winlogon Fix: checked, was OK
6. Disable User Account Control (UAC) doesn't fix Ksod
7. PrevX’s Black Screen of Death Fix- Patch File called: fixshell.exe: Not tried this time, but I tried before I formatted my laptop, doesn't fix my laptop at that time
8. Remove the hard drive and scan for infected files on another workstation.: I don't know how to remove it on my laptop. I already scanned and all is OK.
9. Check for bad drivers when the system starts up. -- Need more explanation, I don't understand. Boot up, then F8, and ... ??
10. System Restore – Reinstall Vista – Upgrade to Windows 7 -- Not tried at this moment.

Rich,

Look at this from Seagate Support :

"The Seatools for Windows are designed to be used on Seagate and Samsung drives only.

Using this software to test any other drive will most likely not provide the correct information.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact Seagate Technical Support.

Best regards"

Im surprised by that answer. Those tests are suggested and used by many of the members here. If you are more comfortable use the one given by the manufacturer of your Hard Drive.

I already tested with the one from F-S one year ago, and nothing was found, all was OK.

If you have another tool, I could try it, no problem. :D

Yes, I do, but less persistent.

I've just checked again, Ksod appearing when closing user or admin account.

You are very wise not to attempt something that makes you uncomfortable.
As I told you previously, it was best to post in the Forum, since others can offer help, too. I really dont have much more to offer.
