Need help please! i had just finished installing vista ultimate and was updating then power went off and restarted and i get the blue screen with error clfs.sys .00000050..safe mode takes me straight to blue screen..recovery disc starts the loading of window files bar then it goes to blue screen..my boot priorities are correct i have no idea how to fix this

I think that I know what the problem is, but if I am right, if you boot from the CD you should be able to reinstall.
Humour me, follow the instructions to be sure you are booting from the CD and not the OS.

If after you set the boot priority and you still cannot boot and you cannot boot in saafe mode, it may be hardware, we will need to use the computer selfdiagnostic.
Before you post, again. Boot the computer and listen for beeps, let us know what you hear.

I checked it and it was booting from CD.it did same thing said it was installing Windows files then bsod and when it posted there was 1 beep

It appears that my initial thought about the cause of your problem may have been in error. The one beep and the fact that you cannot boot from the CD points to a memory problem. If I am correct the solution could be as easy as replacing the ram or as expensive as a new motherboard.
Without the reports that I asked for in my first post, I cannot be sure.
If you have your computer manual, you can read about the self diagnostics in your computer, that will test ram, hard drive etc.
If you do not have the manual, shame on you, but we can still help, make and model of computer please.
