Black screen of death with white cursor

I have done two things that may have led to this problem.

---

1) I scanned my system with Malwarebytes and it detected four things that were quarantined and deleted:

RiskWare.Tool.CK
RiskWare.Tool.CK
Hacktool.Agent
Hacktool.KeySteal

I have no knowledge on technical matters, but I'm assuming maybe removing these things might have caused something?

---

And 2) I recently used chkdsk to scan for errors and remove bad sectors. This is basically what was changed according to my chkdsk report:

Cleaning up 127 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9
Cleaning up 127 unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9
Cleaning up 127 unused security descriptors

---

Ever since I did both of these things, I've been getting the black screen of death with a moving white cursor
so I have reason to believe either one of those two things might have caused the problem, because before that, everything was fine.

Basically, it'll go to the black screen for like five minutes, and then it'll boot up as normal.

Could someone please tell me the reason for this, as well as a solution?

A fast reply would be greatly appreciated, because right now, I am panicking.

Thank you so much.

Welcome
I doubt if the problem is caused by either, but lets test the hard drive. Download crystal software (make sure you use the correct download, the site is full of pay stuff). If the HD is bad it will show.
Either way report back and we shall look further if necessary

I am almost positive it was either of those two things because before then, my computer booted up normally.

As for this CrystalDiskInfo, I downloaded it, and it's telling me my health status is caution.

What do I do? I'm panicking.

The drive does have problems. Before we do anything else and to protect your stuff, back up your stuff now. We will then make the long chkdsk, and then see how it works.
Disk Check - Windows 7 Help Forums For vista and seven
Chk both boxes when asked which test you want to make.
Back up your stuff first.

I ran chkdsk earlier and checked both boxes, so why would I still have these problems?

And also, I don't know how to back up my data. I have DVD-Rs, could I save my data to those?

And would it back up everything, including iTunes and anti-virus software?

If you ran chkdsk, no need to do it again. The HD may not be the problem. I know of several easy tests to try and determine the cause of the problem, but its always best to back up first.
You only need to back up your personal stuff, such as documents, pictures etc.
Software that you downloaded from the internet or loaded from a CD do not have to be backed up, but If you needed a product key number to install the first time you will need that number again.
Even if you were not having problems, its always good to back up your stuff. A hard drive can go without warning and then you will lose stuff that is not backed up.

I backed up everything.

My main concern is getting rid of the black screen, and I am entirely convinced it was from scanning with chkdsk.

Before we discuss these tests, I was planning on doing a System Restore.

Do you think that would help?

When I downloaded the Crystal program you sent me, another program was secretly added called Conduit.
Now I am spending unnecessary time removing it from my internet browsers.

Apparently, this Conduit thing is malware, and now I'm scanning my computer.
How do I know I won't get more secret malware from the things you want me to download?
I'm panicking even more and I don't want to do any more damage.

I don't know what you downloaded, but I downloaded from the same site without problem. Just use restore to get rid of the problem.

So I tried a system restore, and as it was booting up again, it obviously didn't work because I got the black screen again. And I couldn't ctrl-alt-delete my way out either.
But when I rebooted again, I put it in safe mode and it went through.
I am desperate for help. I feel like I'm losing my mind, and I'm afraid to shut my computer down again.
Is there any way I can revert the changes chkdsk made?
Or should I just continue with the test you suggest?

For Step 1, which option do I check?
Small memory dump, kernel memory dump, or complete memory dump?

Also, this is for the Blue Screen of Death. Not the Black Screen of Death with a moving white cursor.
Does this work for both?

You will give me reports that will give an indication of what is happening. It will analyze the computer for both BSOD and Black screen.
