Your problem is a driver. The driver is most commonly used in Zone Alarm. If you have this software uninstall. I can suggest a good anti virus and firewall if necessary.

i have a full paid up zone alarms which i dont want to install, i got a new update about 3 days ago and to be honest that when the problem started but never linked the 2
any ideas how to fix it with ZA still installed

My Computer

When you pay for anti virus software it does not mean that it is better than what I can give you for free. In any event, if the problems began with the update, with system restore go back a week before the update. Your stuff will not be touched. But, I suggest dump the problem software and use what I will suggest. You lose no money, because what I will suggest will be free.

We will go step by step
First make a system restore point so that you can go back in case you are not happy with the results or they do not stop the BSODs
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76332-system-restore-point-create.html
Uninstall Zone Alarm
When it is uninstalled. Go to the start button and then to search. In search, type cmd and then right click and then run as administrator.
In the cmd type driverquery. You will see a list of all your drivers. Make sure that
vsdatant.sys
is gone. If it is download Microsoft security essentials. It has a fire wall and a great antivirus. To back it up, especially infections other than virus, download malwarebytes. You will use both malwarebytes for scans and Security Essentials for real time protection
For Malwarebytes the free version is all that you need
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Protect, Detect & Remove Malware From Your PC
Download Microsoft Security Essentials Free
