Call of Duty 4 Installation error*

Hey guys, so I wanted to play Cod 4 Today, so I was searching for my dvd disk, so I found it (finally) and I was installing it, then a error occured during the installation
here is a screenshot of the error.
I have vista 32bit,

First error, during the installation -

I click "Avbryt - Cancel/abort"

seen this?? You receive an "error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation" error message when you try to install a Windows Installer package

have you tried installing it with administator privellages?

What do you mean with "Adminstrator Privalleges? " I dont know how to install it with those admin stuff, I only know how to start a game/application as an adminstrator.

Right click on the setup and select run as administrator.

what is an encrypted folder?

And that I have no idea.
Maybe I should try to browse open the CD and run the setup as an adminstrator like you suggested!


Edit: Well I tried to run the setup as an adminstrator, that didnt work well. I recongnized that my screenies wasnt really the best one, here a new one.

heres what microsoft says about error 1305

• There is a configuration issue with the CD-ROM drive.
  [*]The MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) is damaged or is not installed properly.

can you confirm your DVD game disk isnt the problem?

I have no idea, but I installed it before without any problems. And then a friend of mine borrowed it and it was a long time ago, so I wanted to play it once agian, and it didnt work. Should I try to extract all the files?

you should try to clean the disk.

How?

have you tried to install COD4 in ''compatibility mode'' for XP..??

or maybe you could try & install it in ''safe mode''..??

Hey, Im not that good with vista, so how do I do that

ok...

right click the installation file...

scroll down to ''properties'' & select

select ''compatibility''

select ''XP SP2'' & apply

exit & run the app (as ADMIN of course)


for ''safe mode'' you'll have to reboot..


reboot machine, keep tapping F8 upon boot

select ''safe mode''

when you reach the desktop locate the COD4 installer & try again..

But youmeant i had to browse the install folder, then run the setup.exe in XP SP2 and Admin , right?

Nope, Didnt help.

is your E drive your dvd drive? If so the issue is with the drive or the disk , most likely the disk , can you try and install it on a friends pc see if the disk is still ok?

do other disks read/install ok?

I installed cod4 fine on Vista x64 so i dont think its a compatibility issue

mine also went on without the use of ''compatibility mode'', but lets eliminate it as a possibility..

i see he edited his post, it never worked....... the disc may be scratched.

I also think that the CD is scratched, because It worked before. And its on a laptop.I can try it on my other comp. But cant I try to extract all the files inside the CD on the comp? If so how do I do that:huh:

N mate you cant the games anti piracy software wont allow it , there are way and means and it'll take you about 10 seconds to find those on google but its frowned upon

Even though you are doing this for perfectly valid reasons its still a breach of the games copywrite
