WoW game on Windows Vista 64-bit

I have been trying to update my WoW game from 2.3.0.75ish to patch 2.4.3 for days now. It downloads the patch fine, and when it gets to installing it it will install really fast until it gets to 58%, then it just freezes up and won't do anything, the only thiings that changes after a long amount of time is what is being installed (as of now, 'BAND_MASKWOOD01.BLP'), the percentage will not go up (if it does which it only has ONCE, it goes up 2 percentages in like 12 hours). I have tried to restart the update millions of times and I still have the same problem. I do have Hughes and it can be slow but the patch should've been able to finish, especially if it started off really fast. Ughh...I have no idea what to do, I have tried searching everywhere for help and this is the closest I get...maybe its windows vista somehow making it stop? I know sometimes with vista it can have tight security that you don't even know of. I mean the only thing i've done is 'run as administrator' before I downloaded the patch, which didn't help. I dont know but if anybody has any advice or something to help me get this patch FINALLY finished please, please tell me. I would very much appreciate! I am dying, I really want to play WoW. :) lol

Hello stephy09,
Is this the correct patch, i.e. your region ?, the North US one is not compatible with the EU game and vise versa.

I am in the U.S. and my patch should be correct as I download it straight from the 'WoW launcher'. Or sometimes from my desktop, I right click WoW, 'run as administrator' patch downloads and installer still stops at 58%.....:(

My computer is HP, Windows Vista Home Premiums, it's still quite new.

By the way, WoW has worked on my computer once before but I installed it and updated before I had this computer and internet provider. I could play it on Vista until it had to update, then I unistalled WoW, hoping updates would actually work or go faster butno luck.

Can you download the patch from an independent site and install ?. not using any WOW components.

I've tried that like 2 days ago. A friend of mine found patch 2.4.0 for me. I started it and it was very slow. It sent me like 8.40 kb/s..and it stayed at 1%. I probably would've had to wait a week for it to maybe finish. I went back to WoW updater because manually downloading the patch didn't appear to work for me and WoW updater went faster until its freezing point at 58%.

The only other thing i can suggest is to re-install, the only problem with that is there is no guarantee of success, i will leave that one up to you.
Let us know how it goes, good luck.

Ok well I just did that I clicked on 'wow uninstaller' but nothing came up except 'delete all files in wow' or somethin like that and i clicked yes. Nothing came up saying it was uninstalled I guess it wasj ust done after that. I just reinstalled it and clicked play once it installed, it downloaded the patch, took me to the wow installer where I install the patch but what was odd was that the patch somehow went really fast still up to 58, like how it was before I uninstalled. Is it supposed to do that? I figured after I uninstalled nothing would be the same because all the files shouold have been removed.

Go into safe mode and un-install everything, when in safe mode run a search for everything WOW, delete everything you find and re-install. when you do a search it will find files left behind after an un-install.

I dont know I dont think it can be my internet because it downloads the patch first. But when the patch starts to install it says, 'downloading and installing patch' and it shows the amount of data being sent and what I have and then when it gets to like 50ish it just says 'downloading' and none of the other stuff. This is always how its been but I just now thought to tell you, hope this can help somehow. :)

OK, have you tried turning off your anti-virus/firewall program ?, this may help some of the time, some people report success with this.
Also go to Task Manager and close WOW.exe while trying to update, check you only have one instance of the updater running too, it will be under "installer.exe", close all multi instances of WOW processes running.
Give it a go and post your results. Good luck.

I turned off my antivirus and firewall but it still stopped installing at 59. It was going really fast until something made it stop.

Idk...I've tried that before and it was so slow. Plus with my internet...if I download too much it slows the downloads and net down. I have a 200mb limit..........but from 3-6am i can download easier. I don't think I'll be able to ever manually get the patches...so..:(
It may work but it would probably take awhile.

More Computer specs that may help:
-Make: 2007 Microsoft Corporation
-Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard Company
-Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20 GHz 2.2GHz
-Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB
-System type: 64-bit operating system
-Current Space: 311GB out of 454GB

That's all I really know/can find.
