Hi,
i have a Asus M51vr-ap046c with Vista Business Sp1 and some updates, i have updated the intel wifi 5100 driver, to fix some issues but i have still one problem:
Sometimes Vista will freeze, and i must hard reboot to recover, no bsod, or event viewer entries except it shutdown unexpectedly.

eg: monday: was on for 3 hours, going into sleep twice, no issues
Friday: Froze, was watching a .flv (5 meg) file from hdd, sound went into repeat.
What was running:msn, thunderbird, avast, asus utilities, was fast until freeze.
Because the way it freezes i can lose work, i don't wont to lose work!

A mate with the same laptop and configuration like mine and doesn't have this issue, only a few differences, he has more things installed and running in memory and a netgear router wrn3500, i got a Dlink dir 615.

If there anymore details plz ask, going to work sat 11-4 pm

i never really get program crash's, only this problem

Thanks,
Gaggaz

There are already al lot of thread about Vista hanging "without" reasons. Just use the search option. Keep knowledge bundled! Look into your logfiles (admin tools) and see if you have the same issues. The worst of all is often... nothing to do about it if MS keeps ignoring the problems!:

i have looked into these and yes i have these two same errors, not as much freeze's, i did update the wifi, that helped a bit , but i have down every kind of hardware test and even the shop did too, no issues.

But why doesn't this happen to my friends , they have vista and weirdly my friend who has the same laptop and configuration....

so i'm still looking around...

but i noticed some asus m51vr users on forums have similar problems and like me, it doesn't happen much when i'm plugged into AC.

But i can make it happen when 'allway sync' is transferring large files, but it wont happen through windows file sharing.

mmm,

thanks,

Gaggaz

Don't bother to try to find a solution... there is nothing logical about this problem. For 4 months I had many freezes (very day, sometimes multiple), now "suddenly" the last freeze was 2 weeks ago (huh?) ... I didnt reinstalled vista so... donno what happened... Maybe it was one of the drivers (sound, videocard).... *crossing his fingers*

By the way: I can only force it to freeze it for exemple using Smartftp and upload stuff... Downloading is no problem. All othe situations (sound and video) no problem anymore.
