Ok, first off specs are in my sig....refer to them first plz.

Every peice of hardware is brand new and there is nothing saved in my hard drive right now.

I am doing a clean install of windows 64 home premium edition, basically when i get to the screen that asks me where i want to install windows...there is no drive for me to choose. My Hard drive is SATA and it is detected in BIOS in the IDE channel 0 Master slot. I have tried other SATA cables and I have tried other SATA slots. I have tried AHCI option in BIOS. I have tried runnin in Native Mode as well as Legacy IDE mode.

I got my drivers from GIGABYTE - Upgrade Your Life

I click the correct model number and at the next page on the bottom it asks for the type of OS you have...I select windows 64 obviously. I then save the drivers to my USB drive. I extract the files and switch my USB drive over to the new comp. when i get to the screen that asks me where i want to install windows, there is an option to load drivers. However, once i load the drivers the only way they can be selected is if I un-check the box "HIDE DRIVERS THAT ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH HARDWARE ON THIS COMPUTER." Now, one would think that i have incompatible drivers...but i'm getting them directly from the mobo website.

If there are any suggestions or anything at all that i have missed please tell me. I hope i provided enough info, if not then just ask...i will be refreshing all day to see if someone has a solution for me. Thanks in advance.

p.s. remember this is my first tim,e building, so, if it is a stupid fix don't make fun ;)

Have you checked your BIOS settings?

Is it set at the right configuration for the type of drive you have (ide or sata).

yeah i've tried all sorts of different settings just to be sure. I've tried AHCI and RAID. I've tried the normal SATA/IDE settings...

edit: specs are up

edit #2: Yes, i have F6 BIOS version....i think when i updated i either already had F6 or when u update there is no actual change in the way it looks because it looks the exact same and same exact option as pre-update...

correct..i only have 1 HD, which is why i'm not connect to any of the RAID slots.

I'm connect to the first SATA slot in my mobo. In BIOS it reads as Channel 0 Master.

OK well that sounds normal about it displaying in Bios as channel 0

Now the other thing is what cables do you have connected since you have mentioned IDE and SATA
If im getting you right your saying that you have 3 cables connected to your HDD.. If this is correct then this is where you problem lies
You should only have 1x sata power cable via your PSU and 1x Sata cable(usually red) connected from sata port 1 to the HDD
Now if im thinking you have also connected and IDE cable(Long/Wide strip connector) then this needs to be removed as its not needed

No, i only have the SATA cable and the PSU cable connected. Only reason i mentioned IDE is because in BIOS i have the SATA/IDE device enabled and the Hard drive is being detected in IDE Channel 0 Master.

I do have the option for SATA Port 0-3 work as Native IDE Mode or Legacy IDE Mode. It has to be one or the other, i can't disable both options. Which one do you recomend? I have tried both though already.

Edit: Also there is Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode. I can either choose for my SATA ports to work as IDE mode or AHCI mode. I have tried both of these also. Which do you recomend?

If you have tried both then disabling any will be of no help... however in your bios usually on the main page you will have the likes load default setting save and exit ect
if like my board And most current Highbrid board you should have a Load Fail Safe settings.. this should disable any unessential bios settings and thus should allow for correct Auto configeration which in turn should allow you to load windows setup and install the drive... if this does not help you then i can be of no further assitance

Unless this fault lise within the Ram issue in what case you will need to remove all sticks to one and replace after installation

Is there an option between IDE and IDE enhanced mode?

However, since it's a fresh install and you have no other IDE devices etc, AHCI is what you want.

Just to clear it up, you don't need to worry about loading any drivers for your hard drive, so it won't be causing any problems this.

Unless I've missed something as well, have you tried connecting the hard drive to another SATA port? It doesn't "have" to be connected to the first SATA port.
