My main rig runs Vista Ultimate or Server 2008. Depending on which Acronis image I decide to load.
evenm if the mobo is detecting the HD in BIOS and my other comp reads the HD just fine, i was able to partition and format on it.

It's still a possibility of either one being bad just because vista doesnt see a drive?

Unlikely. Do you have smart backup enabled? It may an issue with the controller.

when i extract them they are loaded from the root. They arent stored in a sub-folder.

after i de-select the "hide drivers that are incompatible with computer hardware" , they show up.

I'm actually trying something right now that i haven't tried yet. If i get it solved i will let u guys know about it and what i did. In the meantime, keep throwing things out there just in case this doesnt work.

All i had to do was read my mobo manual a little better.

I was under the impression that the blue, IC10R SATA ports were what i was suppose to be plugging my HDD into. The GSATA white, JMB322 slots, i thought were for RAID config. only. Well, i did some reading a little more in-depth and it said for regular SATA HD to plug it into the GSATA 2_0 or 2_1 slot and just run regular BIOS settings. If i plug into the IC10R that is for 2 or more HDD's and RAID settings.

I win!
