Video Lag in Vista 64 bit

Hi all,
I have a Gateway MD 7818U and I seem to be experiencing a video lag in games. It is almost like I can play almost no games even games that are old and I shoud easily be able to play like half life 2 lag badly like every 3 seconds or so. I also am having this issue on streaming video untill it is loaded but when it is loaded it runs extremely well. even on youtube when the pink bar is far ahead of where I am

Ok, because the obvious cause would be that your internet is slow, or the server you are connecting to is slow. But since the problem happens when you are offline as well then I don't think that this is the case, although it could be a factor.

If what I looked up is correct you have a 128MB Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (integrated). Which isn't the greatest (especially the integrated part) but have you tried playing any/all of the games on the lowest graphics setting?

It could be a compatability issue. Are you running the games in compatability mode with Windows XP SP2? It seems like a lot of other people are having troubles with Warcraft 3 (along with other games) and Vista actually.

The youtube videos is probably your internet. Go to a video and once it starts playing, hit pause. let it load. then once it is fully loaded, play it. If it still has problems playing it then there is something really wrong.

Try going here and see if the driver for your integrated graphics is the most recent one. If the one you have isn't then update it.

Let me know

I wouldn't be so sure as to assume that the driver Gateway has on their site is the current one.

A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer

Hmph lol. Ok then. The next thing I would start looking at is the programs that are running in the background that may be taking up a bunch of your cpu while you are playing games. If you don't see anything that sticks out then that is as far as I can help you. I can't think of anything else that may be happening other than hardware/software compatability issues.

If you are running too many programs at once, it could be causing that T6400 to slow down. Drivers might not help, the 4500MHD is a weak chipset. Try defragging your hard drive too.
