Vista - Can't delete file off desktop

ok, so i think i made a big mistake and i have not clue hot to fix it...
so in the past on my older computers (ones that ran XP) i would make a new folder on my desktop and name it "alt+0160" and it would just have no name then, then i would change the icon to nothing and i would have an invisible icon and i would throw all my program icons into that folder and get rid of recycle bin icon so there was nothing on the desktop. well i just bought a laptop and it has vista on it and i did the same thing but i just deleted all the icons and hid the recycle bin icon in the properties somewhere i dont remember where but im sure you know what im talking about... anyways so the invisible icon wasnt a big problem till it turned into a black square that cannot be deleted, removed, renamed or anything i can move it, vista recognizes it as an icon because when i try making another one it asks to merge the files but it doesnt and it keeps the stupid invisible one, i cant even rename it or delete it or anything on the my computer stuff or anywhere i have no clue what to do maybe somebody can help me...

is it giving access denied error message while trying to delete ?

If so check the security permissions whether u have full permission, and try taking ownership of the folder.

well i click delete on it and it closes the box like it is gonna do something but the dialogue box asking if i want to delete it doesnt work but it will with all other files even if i make a new one its just this one, and i am an administrator, idk it the fact that what i named it to make it have nothing is messing with it or not, and i have no computer knowledge, just what i google...

It's not clear to me whether you've tried the DelinvFile program.

if you need to delete something and cant. download unlocker. it's freeware

you can use unlocker in the right click menu when you click on a file

I'd read over what these guys said because I think taking ownership of the file is your best bet

It depends also from platform -if you have x64 system use this tool LockHunter is a free 64/32 bit tool to delete files blocked by any processes
because Unlocker not work under x64 systems
