acer 5315 ongoing

This helpful forum has been trying to assist me with a clean install of vista. Have followed the advice and downloaded the configuration utility but still no luck. I am using a portable hd with the usb port - do I need to buy a flash drive instead to install the drivers...

Thanks for the tip. I might be able to borrow a flash drive if not I'll burn to a dvd.
Please could you also tell me if I have to do anything to the files or just load them on to the flash drive and the vista installation will find them okay - the part where it says local drives.

Load to a USB flash drive.

Installed the files on a usb flash drive and plugged it into the laptop. Although the acer lists the drive as removable disk (E it does not open or do anything with them.
Where have I gone wrong please...
In the windows installation where it offers a choice of either Browse or Rescan - under Browse - the browse for folder box opens with disk e listed but highlight it and click okay - the box closes and that's it...

Remove E:

Reinstall to ACER C:

E is the usb flash holding the Sata drives -
do you mean put the Sata files in the C drive............

Thank you again for the help but the acer still does not recognise the drivers. Clicking drive C or Acer E - then clicking okay and I still get the mesage about drivers not found. I am trying to do a clean install - would it have been easier with XP - I'll go and buy a copy if so.

No, I think that installing Vista is simplier than XP, with XP you cannot use pen drives for drivers, only diskette drives...

Still stuck though, have been googling, wonder if vlite would make like easier.......

That could be the problem.
I do not appear to have a disc O unallocated space just the drives listed
a few messages back.............

Disk 0 is your acer C:

Click "C"
Click okay
and nothing happens
