Little help please folks.. cant move/rename some vid' files...

First off, I DO have this on another thread, but I just realised the last post on that thread before mine was 6mnths old, so my apologies for the double posting... well, here goes...

O.k, I'm having a prob moving some video files, 3pg mostly, but a couple of avi's aswell... most of them are in my videos folder, but a couple are on an external harddrive..

so far, I've tried for viruses, none found, malware, couple found and removed, I've tried taking ownership, reg fixes, renaming containing folder, changing attributes, renaming etc etc etc.. and I just keep coming up with the same message everytime I try to move the files (or rename the files themselves)

From: Videos (C:\Users\Pajo\Videos)
To: Personal, Phone Etc (C:\....\personal, Phone, Etc)
Time Remaining: Calculating....
Items Remaining: 1 (1.06 MB)
Speed: 0 bytes/sec

This has been going on about a week or two now, and I'm starting to go demented.. if anyone can help, I'll will be forever grateful.

**I've now also tried a system restore**

I'm really losing the plot here :(

System restore has not effect on personal files. So that will not work. I just noticed that part of your post and wanted to inform you of the reason for your failure.

I figured the system restore wouldnt help, tho someone else had tried it and it worked (prob a slightly different problem tho)

Just a wee update.. Unlocker is [kind of] working... its letting me move the files, one at a time.. but I have the same problem with them in the new folder...

Also, some of the files are coming up as having no "locking Handle"... yet they cant be moved without unlocker... any ideas?

ANd I forgot to say, thanks for the replies.. I appreciate ANY help at all like.

Right click on the file,>properties> security, what do you see?

Thanks richard, nice to find a forum with some decent folks on it... I'm a bit of a computer head meself, but only in certain respects, my knowledge centres around certain things and after those, I'm kinda screwed... lol...!

Permissions are all set to allow/full control... except special permissions which isnt marked at all... That goes for the 3 groups - System, Administators, and Pajo (me)

It will work. Turn off computer. Boot. As soon as boot start, and before the windows logo, quickly hit f8 (repeatedly). You will get into safe mode.

Try to hit f8 about twice a second, not too hard, gently, but firmly.

This is not as good, but if you really cant get into safe mode, try the hidden administrator, in regular mode.

I cant find that hidden admin thing at all... I think I'm going to give it up for tonite, coz I've had a REALLY long few days, and I'm gona start fresh at it tomoro.. fresh eyes and all that.. lol! I'll try then to get into safe mode and try the admin thing.. I tell ya tho, if I have to go through all this everytime I want to use one of these files... grr... lol

Once we get control of them with the Adm account we can make changes that will not require that account again.

You said that you are having trouble with the ADM account, I thought that it was the same for Vista and Seven, but in case I am wrong here is the tutorial for Vista.

When you try to move a file etc and you say that you can't. What message do you get?

I dont actually get a message, I just get something like this -->

THats if I try to move, renaming, I jsut get the renaming message, but it still says 0 discovered etc.. and it just stays on that message altoghether until I cancel and hit the x.

Oh, I'm in the admin account now by the by, finally got into it. tho I'm not in it in safe mode as I cudnt get online in safe mode.
