Little help please folks.. cant move/rename some vid' files...

Hi Again,

Everything that I have suggested so far has either been used by me or it was used by other members with success. I truly do not like making suggestiions, when I am not sure of the potential problems.

Read this information, if you think it applies to your situation and it may help, make a sytem restore point, in case of problems, then try it..

I submit this for your consideration, so that you know that the method exists and that it is available to try.

I cannot understand why nothing seems to work.

Try to right click on one and send to desktop. If you get it there see if you can move and rename etc. The desktop is like a folder.

Try to copy and paste, see if that works.

Try to turn off your video player, see what happens..

These ideas may not work, as I am guessing, now.

OK, here is my thought for today. Your first post indicates that you are having a problem with certain folders; both you and I have concentrated on the folders and have gotten nowhere.

How about this. There may may be corruption in your system.

Go to search, type cmd (do not hit enter), right click on CMD and run as administrator. In CMD type sfc /scannow. This will list and fix any corruption. If errors are found, try it several times it fixes only one error at a time. If you do this, then try moving the files again.

success! havnt been able to post anything since my last post... kept telling me that my posts where to short and had to be at least 3 characters long... ha!

o.k, basically, tried EVERYTHING now at this point, and still having no luck.. so I pretty much give up. Thinking of backing up everything and buying me a copy of Windows 7 to be honest... but I dont know...

What is the brand or your lap top?

If you want to buy 7, it is a great OS. If you want to salvage what you have, there are still several ways.

Its actually a PC I'm using - a HP a6305.uk ...nothing special like, just an off the shelf thing. tbh, I'v been wanting to get a few new bits for it, but I aint evn sure whats upgradeable on it.. keep meaning to check.. but I never think of it when I have time.

The reason that I ask about the computer is because, rather than buy Windows 7. You can try this. Restore to factory specs. If it works you will be like the day you brought the computer home. You have to reinstall all programs etc, but you will be working again. Windows 7 is great, however.

The instructions might be a bit different, since it is the UK, but the method will be in your manual or on line and I can help, too.

I did consider that alright.. but I figure, if I have to go through the hassle of doing that (and having to back everything up and all), I might as well just go and buy the new OS.. well, depending on how much it is...I know I can get it "other" ways.. but I think I'll actually go buy it if I do want it...
