Problem: Taskbar doesn't respond sometimes.

I'm using a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC running on Vista Home Premium x64 with 4GB of RAM. The problem is that sometimes the taskbar doesn't respond when I click on it. Whether it's the icons, the start button or the minimized programs, it doesn't work. When I CRTL+ALT+DEL to get to the Task Manager, it works for awhile and it then it stops working again. I've searched on Google but I can't seem to find the solution. Any help would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance :)

Next time it does not work, go to search and type event viewer and look for errors.

Does it work in safe mode?

Read and try this
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66978-system-files-sfc-command.html

and this
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

I tried the clean boot thing and the taskbar still didn't work sometimes. As for the sfc scan, it showed errors that couldn't be fixed automatically by the scan so I followed the instructions with the elevated command prompt but all I get is a blank sfcdetails.txt file.
Also, whenever my taskbar freezes up, the webpage/browser I am on goes backwards.

Hello awsomeneess, welcome to Vista Forums.

It would also be a good idea to run some virus scans, at the link below download and install the free version of Malwarebytes, when installed run a full scan of the complete PC, if it finds something run additional scans until it comes clean.
Be sure to keep us informed.

I've tested in safe mode for about 10 minutes and it works fine.

I've probably scanned about five times with Malwarebytes scanner since this problem came up.
Also I've got the sfcdetails.txt to show something. I attached the txt. What should I do next?

Works fine in safe mode, sounds like it may be a driver problem. Go to device manager, make sure all your drivers are up to date and not corrupted; special attention to graphic driver or card.

hello! i have just registered to this forum just to post here. i found this thread via google. ive found NO solutions to the problem. im having the same problem: task bar doesnt react pretty often. i have to go ctrl+alt+del, then click task manager TWICE (it does not react the first time i click), then i can work again for a random amount of time. i can not specifically reproduce the problem voluntarily. if op still reads this: whats ur hardware? might be something related to logitech! ive tried with and without setpoint. the problem occurs randomly. it seems to me, like the MMouseBtn is PERMANENTLY spammed. im getting the scrolldown symbol in firefox, or if it happens while i play a game, the command the mousewheel would usually execute is executed permanently! is there any possible solution? i did NOT have this problem with windows vista, but with win7 64 im having it!! my specs: asus P5Q-pro Logitech G5 (with and without setpoint) ATI radeon HD4800 im really desperate. i hope i can find help here!
