Physical memory dumps whenever on system startup

Dear all!

Please help me with this!

I have a Vista Home Premium 32X on my laptop. When I boot the system, after entering my user password, the physical memory gets dumped and the system restarts again. This goes on agan and agian. Sometimes, this happens in safe mode as well. Once when it by chance booted in safe mode, I had a look at my documents, music and pictures folder. I was shocked to see them empty. Have I lost all my documents, music and pictures?
Why is the physical memory getting dumped repeatedly. Please suggest some solution for the problem.

Thanking you in advance
Ganesh

Someone else may come in here with a better explanation, but my understanding runs something like this:

Physical memory dumps usually involve something using entirely too much RAM when they shouldn't be. The dump takes place to free up memory so that the system could keep running. A few things can cause this, few of them good.

If it's happened twice in a day, it probably means that some piece of hardware it about to go (or already has). Safe bet would be that a memory stick (or part of one) has gone bad. Since the computer expects to be able to use that, it's discovery that it doesn't have all the memory that it thought it did traumatizes the poor thing.

Think of how you'd feel if you discovered that your basement disappeared, right after you bought a bunch of stuff that needed to be stored in there. Your reaction might be to react by just throwing stuff away that you thought was no good and just taking up space. The downside would be that you might accidentally throw away something you need.

The good news is that a RAM dump is not permanently removing information; it's just removing it for the session until necessary. Still, dumps often require restarts because something necessary disappeared. It's not really a great analogy, but I think it helps explain the idea.

You might want to do a check on the RAM or the HDD to see what the problem is. There is also a possibility that it's from a program that isn't bright enough to only use the amount of RAM that's there

Take memtest86. Run for 8 passes and then take a known good stick and test each slot

I recommend you attempt the following (in Safe Mode with networking if necessary) to help us see if we can identify the cause assuming it isn't memory as Richard suggests in which case you simply need to replace it (and you may very well find that's the case). See http://www.vistax64.com/crashes-debugging/282419-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html and follow the directions as well as you can.

Though this won't solve the problem directly, it may help us identify the cause and from there a solution may present itself.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hi Lorien!

I tried running the Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_.exe in the Safe Mode. But, when the process was about to finish running, my system dumped the physical memory and went to system restart. :( I don't know what to do now.

My Computer

Did you do the memory test Richard recommended and what were the results? If not, do that next.

Then since Safe mode seems to work a bit randomly and for an indeterminate period of time, try to run the program a few more times to see if we can get it to finish. We may get lucky.

Thanks!

The trick with that memory test is to take your time. Run for at least 8 passes, the more the better. Then dont forget the problem may be with the MB, test each slot with a known good stick. If you have a problem it will show with this test. It is reliable, if the test is long enough, please do not rush.

Hi Lorien

I could run the memory test suggested in the link given by you. I have hereby attached the zip file containing the test results. Please have a look at it and help me.

While we review this information, please do the memory test recommended by Richard and tell us how it turns out.

Thanks!

Hi Lorien!

I ran the memory test suggested by Richard and got 100% pass after 8 tests. When I boot my system in safe mode, vista says that problems were encountered and gives some details about it. It also prompts me top report the problems to microsoft online website. I am hereby pasting the problems reported on startup. Plese go through them and see whether it helps diagnose the problem.

The information you've provided will no doubt help - but we need more time to analyze it. Please be patient. Someone will be back with you to explain what was found and what next steps or procedures should be taken.

Thanks for the additional details.

P.S. Have you ever installed any updates to your system? i see you have neither SP1 nor SP2 and wonder if you are updating at all.

You had about 30 reports going back over about a years time. I checked just the last 6 or 7 current ones; they show BC code 50, which is defined at the top of this report.
As you see code 50 can have many causes. It is up to the analyst to determine which cause pertains to your situation. Since I have never seen so many outdated drivers. I feel that this may be the cause in your situation
It would be rather difficult to update all the listed drivers. In lieu of that I will give you the driver verifier to weed out the bad drivers. All drivers should be updated in the near future or you will be back with more BSOD's

Update outdated listed drivers. If I have inadvertently listed any Microsoft Drivers, they can be ignored. If the list is extensive I have included the driver verifier test so that you may determine which drivers are in need of immediate attention.
Enable the Driver Verifier
www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/65331-using-driver-verifier-identify-issues-drivers.html

Please be advised back up all your documents before using the verifier. It will cause BSODs and possibly booting problems.

It is very important to remember that the dump reports only give clues as to the problem and although it is very easy to analyze only one or two, usually more are needed. If you experience additional BSOD after installing a current version of the driver in question, be sure to post so that we can use the additional information to assist you in preventing the BSOD's
