CHKDSK due to improper shutdown and now NO INTERNET

My laptop did not hibernate and I know this because after I closed it, I heard a beep so when I opened it the screen was black but it was running. I couldn't get anything to happened to I just pressed the power button. The next day Chkdsk ran upon start up and does every time. There were no errors found.

Issues:
1. When I hibernate; it doesn't hibernate properly and the same thing happens where it is still running and I can only stop it by powering off.

2. My wireless internet doesn't come up so I cannot connect to internet. It doesn't even show as an available network to connect to.

3. When I tried to restore the computer to a rpevisou date it said my C drive was corrupt.

4.Chkdsk runs at every start up and I don't want it to.

Please help me with these issues.

Thanks!!

if you still having trouble with ur chkdsk scan on strt up this may help:First click Start> Run> bring up a command prompt by typing in "CMD" and type " fsutil dirty query d: ". This queries the drive, and more than likely it will tell you that it is dirty. Next, type "CHKNTFS /X D:". The X tells Windows to NOT check that particular drive on the next reboot. At this time, manually reboot your computer, it should not do a Chkdsk and take you directly to Windows, im kinda new so u may want to run this bye some1 with more exprs but i think this may help u, good luck Once Windows has fully loaded, bring up another CMD prompt and type and now you want to do a Chkdsk manually by typing "Chkdsk /f /r d:". This should take you through 5 stages of the scan and will unset that dirty bit. Finally, type "fsutil dirty query d:" and Windows will confirm that the dirty bit is not set on that drive. Good luck!

Hello Latina,

Try running a sfc /scannow command to see if it can fix chkdsk.

See if an SFC command run three times will help
System Files - SFC Command

When SFC is finished. Reboot the system and post the result here. it will take few minutes to run this scan.

Thanks

I ran the scan in command prompt and it completed and I rebooted. I went to go look at the CBS log so I could post the results and it said access denied. I am the administrator so I don't know how to open.

The scan didn't fix chkdsk if it was supposed to.. Chkdsk doesn't even complete. It has only completed 1 time out of the 7 times I have let it run. The other times it gets to 55% then proceeds to my regular windows screen.

Also my internet is back to not working. I did a diagnosis on my network adapter and it failed so that must be why my computer isn't picking up my wireless network but I don't know how to troubleshoot my adapter or what the name of my adapter even is.

Please help.

No internet; chkdsk still runs at every start up; and my computer will not properly hibernate so I only feel comfortable shutting it down after every use.

Lets go step by step:

just do "only" the STEP THREE section in the tutorial below to reset check disk and hopefully stop it from running at startup all the time.

Chkdsk will Not Run at Startup in Vista

post your result. if works fine then will go to solve internet problem.

CBS Log is too large to attach because it has info starting from 2/10/11. is there something in particular you are looking for?

Also, I did what you recommended above.... the Step 3 only and I already had Autocheck Autochk * there so I didn't have to do anything.

I just did that and it did stop chkdsk. Now I have to figure out why my wireless isn't being recognized. I am on the internet because I plugged in an ethernet cable from my router to PC.

Also my C drive still shows as dirty though. So I tried to do a manual chkdsk but it couldn't because is said it was in use. Should I schedule on restart? Will this make it always check it again?

If the operation stopped chkdsk, for now, I would NOT schedule it on restart just at this moment in time.
Check again to see when chkdsk is finished, when it is and no other programs running, restart computer to check if indeed the last operation worked.
Then, if ok as arvinwebb suggested, you can continue with putting right the other matters.
