I'm trying to repair my computer and I think I'm going for the Windows Complete PC Backup.

After inputting my language though, it takes me to "Type your product key for activation" instead of the option to click "Repair your computer". Then please read license terms, then instead of selecting somewhere to repair, it tells me to select where to install Windows.

How do I get the to the option to repair, because I think it's just automatically reinstalling, and it just isn't matching up with the tutorial.

Hi Bandaid, Those instructions i gave were for a repair disc, if you have the installation discs then yes, boot from the disc, it will load the files then when microsoft comes on the screen choose advanced options, it will give you five options, including system restore and system repair, choose which option you want, i just loaded my installation disc just to make sure, good luck, Patch41.

I restart with the disc, it says "Windows is loading files..." then the Microsoft Corporation bar loads by, and it instantly goes to language select, not an advanced options, and not five options, nothing except for the next thing asking for the product key.

Is there something specific I need to do when booting it up to get to the advanced options and the option to just get a clean restore so that my computer is back to factory mode or whatever it is that just clears everything so I can just install vista again?

And just referring to the options I have with what I stated, even though it still isn't matching up to your description, have more options when choosing "Where do you want to install Windows?" and after selecting the item which on the original tutorial that just said Windows Vista it says Disk 0 Partition 1 I have the option to Delete or Format but New and Extend are grayed out. I still am gonna assume this isn't the way to do it, as it still isn't exactly what was described.

But if it is, and if format option is what I'm thinking of, is there just a warning to back up my files in-case I want them? Or could I be losing something I actually need without doing a complete system backup frst? I just transferred a few necessary files to a usb, but is there a reason aside from not losing personal files that I'd need to back up everything?

If you do a factory recovery it will erase all you personal files and programs, it will be like you just bought it from the store, so before you do a factory recovery backup everything you need,

I think I need this answered fast, when it does restart automatically, will it go right back into the installation itself, or do I need to press any key to start it again?

Edit:
I didn't press any keys when it asked to, but it automatically got back to the installation itself.
