DVD Video File

Good Evening Folks:

I have a problem which may not fall within your purview, but here goes:

Today my DVD burning program quit functioning. It would go through the burning process but the disk would come out blank. Thinking it was the downloaded video that had a glitch I tried it on a disk that I had previously burned andwas still in my video folder with the same result. I uninstalled and reinstalled my burning app with the same result. I tried a system restore with no change. I then downloaded a couple of other burning programs and tried them and one produced a messaging that it could not create a DVD video file system.
I Googled this message and the results I got were designed for breaking the code on new disks written in the .wma format. I am not interested in breaking any codes and, in fact the videos in question are ones sent to me as part of a school course which I had copied in DivX. I am trying to combine them on one disk.
I appears to me that the problem lies in an MS app in the O/S and I would like to correct it without having to reinstall the O/S. If anyone has any suggestions on how to correct the problem it would be greatly appreciated.

First are you trying to use the program built into windows?
Have you tried DVD Flick It burns all formats.

No, I'm not using the windows burning program. I am using DivX and the other ones I tried also burn all formats.

Hello Powell and welcome to the forums

Try doing this:

SFC Scan

1. Open the start menu
2. In the search box, type cmd
3. Right click on cmd and select Run as administrator
4. In command prompt, type:

sfc /scannow

5. Let it run and let me know if it finds any Integrity Violations

Thanks for your quick response. As for the yellow box?...I don't see one. If you are referring to running at an elevated command prompt I can do so.
Additionally, if you think this is a virus and you are straying too close to an inappropriate area please let me know and I will not press you with any further questions.

Hi Tom:

I followed all the instructions and was able to open the sfc log file. I have attached the sections which detail the repairs. (At least I hope they get attached and I hope they open.) If they don't come through, please let me know. The upshot is it shows listed repairs and informs me that the repairs are complete.

I will try to burn the disk and will let you know the results.

1. Open up the sfcdetails.txt that's on your desktop
2. Press Crtl + A then Crtl + C to copy it all
3. Open this thread and paste that into the reply box
4. Press reply
