Blu Screen Crash with USB3 external HDD

My external HDD's dont show up in my computer when inserting them.

When inserting my USB2 external drive it makes the detection sound but no pop up shows up. & the drive wont show in my computer.

And when connecting my WD 3TB USB3 HDD it too makes detected sounds & then makes the sounds a second time & then I get a Blue screen crash.

In addition to this weirdness, my 2nd internal SATA HD sometimes just dissapears & wont show up again until I reset.

I did a virus & malaware bytes scan & found nothing. Tried a system restore to a day earlier before this happened, but still didnt fix it. Only system changes I have done recently is installing a USB modem for wirless internet. which all was good for a few days.

I have a total of 4 external HDD's & all are doing this, so it cant be a problem with the drives. right? Doesnt matter which of the 2 usb3 ports or 2 usb2 ports I use.
Can someone please help & advise on what I should do?

Thanks.:D

My first hunch would be a name changing virus, but you said you did the tests. Be sure that you made a full and updapted virus scan with your AV and Malwarebytes. If you are sure they are negative my next hunch would be memory. Take the memory test, for at least 8 hours

Guide to using Memtest86+ - Geeks to Go Forums

Pass or fail be sure to take a known good stick and test each slot for 8 passes.

I tried uninstalling my usb modem driver, just in case. But still the external drives wouldn't show up after reboot.

But when installing it again, it keeps making the usb sounds during instalation and then my 2nd internal drive disappears from my computer. So it must be causing some of the problems? ill try that memtest.

The only way the usb2 drive shows in my computer is by keeping it in the slot during reboot. But after I take it out & put it back it doesn't show up. Would this be hinting at anything?

Ill do a ram memtest later when not using my comp.
