-EDIT-
Problem sloved!
Long story short method 2 should have fixed this problem
Had to restart my computer for some of the disables to take effect
-EDIT-

Hi!
I have the same problem as this person!
The slideshow button in the taskpane does not work
But previewing a picture , going into Windows Photo Gallery then clicking the slideshow does work
The Other post --- http://www.vistax64.com/vista-music-pictures-video/52294-no-slideshow.html

I followed the steps , did the first part and the taskpane slideshow button was back to normal.
I only tried the first one to get it back to normal
Rename "ContextMenuHandlers" to "ContextMenuHandlers-"
After that I removed the "-" and it stopped working again
Registry.jpg

Then I proceeded to Method 2 in the other post but it didn't solve my problem
I disabled all none Microsoft Windows Operating System context Menu types
Context.jpg

What should I do from here?
I was thinking disabling the Microsoft Windows types but I'm afraid I might destroye my computer!
I really don't know what I'm doing!

Hello, you say you renamed per the post the " - " at end of the file, and it worked, but , when you removed it , it stopped working. Why did you remove it ?

Hi yard dog!

Thanks for the reply!
Well I renamed it back to original state beacuse , while it did fix the slideshow problem, it kind of "broke" all the other commands when rightclicking
I tested both right clicks on the same file

Before adding "-"
Rightclick.jpg

After addng "-"
Rightlcick2.jpg

As you can see , a few of the lines dissappeared

Okay, makes sense then, has this been a long time issue or has it just started, I am thinking you may want to do a System Restore to before the issue ?

Well the problem started two days ago
I think it has something to do with winrar.
I tried monitoring the task manager while clicking the slideshow button
And RarExtLoader.exe*32 keeps popping up
Taskmanager.jpg

I looked into it and found it's a Winrar file.
So I'm wondernig how come disabling it did not solve the problem.
I will try uninstalling it later and see if it works
Have to run some errands now

Oh and I can't do a system restore cause I turned it off long ago.
It kind of saved some files with viruses and I kepr restoring into that XD

My Computer

I see, well, in that case, run a full scan with free of Malwarebytes, and if you are clean, then turn System Restore back on, and have it create a Clean Restore Point for you. If you have Ccleaner, you can lose the rest of those bad restore points . Look in Tools . Keep us up to date with this so we know how to advise you.

So I tried uninstalling winrar and it didn't fix the problem
But now RarExtLoader.exe*32 does not show up in the taskmanager when I click the slideshow button
Actually nothing shows up! The slideshow button does nothing now
Is there a way to "point" the slideshow button to Windows Photo Gallery?

-Edit-
I went back to the context view and this time disabled all context handlers.
Still didn't fix the slideshow button
Is there a way to reinstall Windows Photo Gallery? Maybe that would fix it

P.S. Yard Dog , Clicking the scales on your sig does nothing!

From what I've read I don't think I can uninstall Windows Photo Gallery on it's own.
I'd have to reinstall Windows Vista again.

Does anyone have that idea on how to fix that slideshow button alone?
Like the way the Burn button was installed by Nero.
I'm sure there's a way to edit it. I just don't know how

I think it will repair/modify itself right over your old files. Try it and see what happens

What I'm trying to do here is not find a new photo gallery to use
I'm trying to fix the slideshow button so that when I click it, it starts a slideshow and plays all the pictures in the folder
Slideshow-1.jpg

I didn't metion it before , I'm using windows Vista Home Premuim

Weird, mine works just fine, and you apparently have installed a complete new Windows Photo Gallery. Being as how you just installed it, by rights you would think it would work, I am at a loss as to why it does not work .

I think I have given you the wrong idea that my photo gallery program was not working
My photogallery program is working prefectly
What isn't working is the slideshow button which is near the top when I open a picture folder
I have circled it in red. I'm trying to fix that button only

-Edit-
I found another page which is exactly what I want to do!
Problem is that page is for Windows 7 and I'm afraid adding that to my Vista registry would bring about a lof of new problems!

That file checker sounds good!
I'll give it a go!

I've read about other people's slideshow button not working due to installing other programs.
What's weird is mine just stopped working after the 3rd slideshow
At the time I was also extracting some files with Winrar.
I'm not sure how they both got tangled up

Do you know how to add and remove the slideshow context button in windows vista?
I think that would solve my problem
