Solved Slideshow Button Not Working!

These are the Vista ones, I do not see the slideshow one, maybe Brink would know if the SevensForum one would work on Vista ?

Hello Bill,

If you mean the "Play Slide Show" feature in Windows Photo Gallery, then it works the same way as in Windows 7 with Windows Photo Viewer.

Hi Brink!!

My problem is the slideshow button in the folder doesn't do anything anymore

I can still start a slideshow by first previewing the picture Windows Photo Gallery , and then clicking the slideshow button at the bottom.
But I would prefer to fix the button!

I monitored taskmanager while clicking the slideshow button and found it started Rarextloader.exe before disappearing again.
Uninstalling or disabling winrar did not fix the problem

Somehow the slideshow button was pointing to that winrar file.
Any advice on how to change it back?

Also after uninstalling winrar , nothing shows up in the task manager when I click the button.
Reinstalling winrar causes the Rarextloader to show up in task manager again

Sorry, I missed the first page somehow where you said what it was.

Was doing a system restore using a restore point dated before you did this by mistake an option?

Sorry I can't do a restore.
I turned it off long ago cause it kept restore to a time I had a virus
And I haven't turned it on till yesterday as instructed by Yard Dog

Hi Yard Dog!

After reading the replies I have decided not to try step 11.
It sounds kind of dangerous for a person like me.
I know how to use a computer, but I have no idea how one works
Especially when it fails half way , it sounds like there's a lot to repair and will probably end up doing a clean install, which is what I really don't want to do

Windows Vista Photo Gallery and Windows Live Photo Gallery

That article's upgrade actually means installing Windows Live Photo Gallery.
Already did that earlier and ended up with both Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Live Photo Gallery
It doesn't help in uninstalling Windows Photo Gallery

I meant, does its slideshow button work. I have both of those myself, one must have been an update thing cause i do not even use those programs, although my button works.

I don't even have one where you do, I press the play button ( which is slideshow ) and there it goes.

For me , that slideshow button only appears when the folder is customized to Pictures and Videos , and also it has to have pictures in it.

I have home basic Vista, must be the difference, anyways, seems we have done as much as we can, if this is solved , then use the Mark Solved button and we can call this a done deal.. good luck and hey, check out all the neat Tutorials that are available .
