    Drive partition question

I just reinstalled Vista onto my PC and now the C drive is too small in size. I only have around 10GB on the C and 300+ on the D drive. I tried messing around in the system maint. section to fix this but I had no success. I was able to create another drive but not increase one from the other. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome
    Jeremy
I think that if you use this software you will accomplish your objective. Beware this is a powerful tool and if not done correctly you may have to reinstall your Operating System. Back up your stuff before use.

Thanks for the reply. I tried the partition wizard but it would not run. I think I know what I did during the install. Maybe my best bet is to reinstall the vista?

A clean install with format would be the best way to go. Make sure that you set up the partitions correctly. Wish you luck

    Re: Drive partition question

Ok I reinstalled Vista and I got it partitioned correct this time. Thanks for the help. I got another question though. It would not accept the key. I went and did it without the key to see what would happen and it installed. I don't get this. Is there a way to put the key in after install? I also cannot get my new Norton on it and I wonder if this has anything to do with it. Any ideas on my new set of issues? Again thanks for your help.

Well I guess I bought an upgrade version. I have no idea what this all means and how this is gonna affect my PC now. Am I doomed?

    Re: Drive partition question

    There is an easy way
Jeremy and, actually, the preferred way.
Get your OS the way you want it. Install your stuff, settings etc.
    Then activate by phone
Activate Windows 7 by Phone - Windows 7 Forums
    (for both Seven and Vista)
    Then maintian properly

    To maintain your computer

10 Tips on How to Properly Maintain Your Computer

Steps that I did not notice on the guide include:

Running a scan disc before doing a defrag

Using Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.

Making System Restore points, at least once a week

Makaing a system Image once a month (varies by user)

Not relying on your A/V common sense, should prevail. You know of many sites can cause a problem.

Do not use any reg cleaning or optimizing software.

Download and use Ccleaner about once every two months. Untick any registry entries.

If you follow these instructions, you will be trouble free for a long time to come.

Be sure to back up your hard drive about once a month (varies by user) and to keeep system restore points up to date.

    Per your edit.
The upgrade version, if installed the way it shows in my tutorial, you are good to go with no problems, except maybe activation.
If you cannot activate with the key and you had Vista already installed, just explain to the technician when you try to activate. He will come on the phone if there is a problem activating.

You have 30 days to activate by phone. After 30 days, you will receive warnings and a gradual loss of functionality.

    Re: Drive partition question

Ok so I followed the tutorial. It did not give me the option to use the activation wizard to locate a phone number to activate by phone. I tried doing a search on the pc but it did not show it. Any other ideas or does anyone have the number to call? I am in Iowa if that makes any difference. Man these things get the ole blood pressure going up.

    Re: Drive partition question

Well after an hour on the phone and about a dozen phone transfers I have it installed and activated. It ran fine for a couple days. Ive been downloading the numerous updates it needed and the SP 1 for vista. Now all it does is give me the blue screen of death and keeps trying to restart windows. Well i think Im gonna stick a fork in this one cuz i think its done.

It'd help to know what the blue screens are. Did SP 1 completely install? Have you checked event viewer?
