Way to run cardfile.exe under Vista x64

I admit it...I'm a dinosaur. I still love and use WFWG 3.11 cardfile.exe on my Win XP machine at work. Several reasons why, really. One of the most important is that we're locked out from adding apps and it's executable from the .exe file without installation. That's why I haven't moved up to something like azzCardfile which requires installation.

But the other reason is that it just works! Does what I need without unnecessary bells and whistles.

Here's my problem. My new home machine is Vista x64 and I've been unable to find a way to get cardfile.exe to run. Tried various compatibility mode options to no avail.

Does anyone know of a way to get the old reliable cardfile.exe to run in the new 64 bit Vista environment?

That's sounds a bit complicated to run one program, but I'll look into it. I've never run a virtual machine before so it would probably be good experience.

If you're locked out from installing aps on your work machine, you would be locked out from installing a virtual computer.

One suggestion is to speak with your IT person and ask permission to install this software. It is meant to replace cardfile and will run on Vista 32 and 64 bit. This is probably the best and easiest solution.

I found a link to a MS Cardfile version that does run in 64-bit mode (verified w/ Win 7 Pro 64-bit). I don't know if it's the 32-bit from Win NT or if it is actually a 64-bit, but it runs on a 64-bit system. Hope this helps, I know it was a huge help to me:

I found a link to a MS Cardfile version that does run in 64-bit mode (verified w/ Win 7 Pro 64-bit). I don't know if it's the 32-bit from Win NT or if it is actually a 64-bit, but it runs on a 64-bit system. Hope this helps, I know it was a huge help to me:

Perfect! It opens .CRD files containing 'pictures' and looks just like the original cardfile - except for wider cards which is irrelevant.
