| Vista Business 32bit | Local access only, please help! Ok, this is my last resort after spending hours digging through forums finding nothing that works for my situation. Out of nowhere, my internet connection has been cut off. I am connected to my university's network via Ethernet cable, IPv4 says "Local", IPv6 says "Limited", a ping to 4.2.2.2 returns "request timed out" which means I am not connecting to the DNS server. All my setting are the same as a friends computer, connected the exact same way. Drivers are updated, tried uninstalling the network controller and reinstalling it, nothing works. I have tried every command line I have come across, disabled IPv6 through a registry edit, and yet it still refuses to connect. Please, if someone can help me before I throw my custom built baby out my third floor window, I would be VERY grateful. If you need more info, let me know. Here's what returns after ipconfig /all, since that is usually the first thing people ask for: Quote: C:\USERS\JOEY>ipconfig /all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Joey-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet # 2 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1D-7D-D7-5A-56 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.7.21.134(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.252.0.0 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Friday, May 29, 2009 9:23:46 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, May 30, 2009 9:23:45 PM Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.4.0.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.7.240.3 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.4.0.1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 6: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes C:\USERS\JOEY> |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit. | Re: Local access only, please help! Dunno if this will help you but I was experiencing the same issues with my nforce and how I got it to eventually work is to uninstall the network port from the mb then let vista load default drivers upon reboot. Has worked since- I too loaded the latest drivers from my mb maker but that's when the trouble started and after a week or 2 of frustration this worked for me. As long as its working I'm not gonna touch a thing! Good luck as I too could not find any answers. |

| Vista Business 32bit | Re: Local access only, please help! bdeyes, I'm curious how you uninstalled the nforce network port from you motherboard. I tried uninstalling from Device Manager and rebooting, but that didn't seem to work. Any other suggestions from anyone?? |

| Windows 7 RTM 64-bit | Re: Local access only, please help! Boot your computer into safe mode with networking and then try to go online. Also, open cmd.exe and type ping 10.4.0.1 and press ENTER. Let us know what's the packets (sent, received and lost) status. |
