I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9110t 64 bit OS. It has two DVD Multi Recorder R DL, 8 Gig Ram, Hdd C: 600 Gig Hdd E: 300Gig. My problem is this, when I burn a CD usising WM Player or Roxio it plays fine in the system, but not on on any other devise. Now, this is a replacement computer for a defective one which was a HP Pavilion Elite m9040n 32 bit OS, and on that system, I was able to burn audio disc to play on other devices using WM Player or Roxio. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I did as you suggested with no luck. After burning the audio CD I went and tried it on the DVD player that we use to play all our CD's. It came up making a noise then on the screen it said to insert disk. Still no play after burn, but plays fine on the computer. Could it be something to do with 64 bit OS?

Are the disks being finalized? If they aren't finalized no player will ever recognize it.

Does that include the computer?
No. Because the computer will 'see' it as removable media and play it from the disk. It needs to be 'finalized' so it seals the cd of any changes so a dvd/cd player will 'see' it as just that. a CD.

OK, I don't remember it asking me to finalize the CD, it just ejects the CD. How do you do that in Roxio or better yet WMP

It might not prompt you, sometimes its a setting before you actually burn the disk. It will be something like 'Advanced Options' or 'Burn Options' and it will list things like burn speed, verification after burn, files at once, or disk at once, then there should be one to 'Finalize the disk'

Yes. I've found out this, I've been using data disk and I thought that I'd try on a newer DVD/Recorder, and it played. So I thought that I's change the brand from Memorex to TDK. No change, so I then tried using a Memorex Music CD-R, no change on the original DVD/CD/CDV Player. I thought that this player was a newer type that would play CD's other than music brands. So now what?

My Computer

what format are you using to burn the disk? mp3/wma?

also when you burn a disk you are usually asked if you want to play the media on another device or just this computer , you didnt permanently set the latter did you?

Hi caddman6425;1152575] can you explore your cd and report back the extension for the music. Ie. wmv,mp3,cda etc.

Hi dbknox,
It's cda.

Wow,I have to admit Nick, I am lost. CDA which is the extension for music cd's, should play on any CD player. Usually when you burn a music CD it is finalized, even if you only do one song. I personally use Nero to make all my music CD's. I used to have Roxio (many years ago) and it worked fine.
The only thing I can think of is that you are not burning the cd in the "audio burning session of Roxio." Please excuse me for the following as I don't know how skilled your at burning music cd's. ( I did see you mentioned burning as data earlier and that won't work for cda, it will work for mp3)
Check the following
How to Use Roxio To Burn A Music CD | eHow.com
Hope it helps. Plus I would recommend doing a search in google for help, they do have forums for Roxio.

It's not only Roxio, it's everything that I've tried to burn with. Could it be that my OS is 64 bit? I've ruled out the style of cd being used, because they all do it. The only thing that I've fouis that they will play on a year old DVD Recorder, but not on the 1 1/2 old DVD Player or the 2 yr old one. Oh, I am burning in the "Audio Burning Session".

I may be totally off the track, but I believe that cd or cda files are
somewhat meta-data in nature.

It may be that your actual music files are hidden in a temp file
somewhere on your system and your CD has only the
cda "shortcuts" pointing to those hidden files.

If that's the case, then the CD can't access
the music anywhere but on your system.

I think the cda system includes copy protection and
special ripping tech is needed. Don't know why it's not
working now if it was before.

Nope, no copy protection. They are plain jane wma audio file that I'm trying to put to CD to play on other devices. BTW, it did work on my 32 bit system before this 64 bit system, I made quit a few disks. As far as the rest of what your talking about, at first glance, I have no idea what your talking about, I quess I'll have to re-read it
