Audio CD won't play on other devices.

Just reread the part that says. "I may be totally off the track".
Ignore the rest.:)

I suggest converting the wma files to .wav files, before
burning to disc.

See if that works.

No, I meant just put them on the CD as .wav files.

( But don't forget this,"I may be totally off the track")

Edit. Sorry I mean just let the Roxio convert to cda
as part of it's process, but use .wav as source files.

Maybe none. It's just that .wav has been in use longer and may be compatible with more players than .wma.

WMA won't work on most devices. Use .mp3, but its up to the device. Rip your cd's if you don't burn copies of them losslessly if your pc has enough space.

Thats the point, files were ripped to the computer inito wma format. Windows Media Player makes temporary copies of the WMA and MP3 files in your burn list, converts the copies to another format (known as PCM), and then saves the converted copies to the disc.

I did as you suggested with no luck. After burning the audio CD I went and tried it on the DVD player that we use to play all our CD's. It came up making a noise then on the screen it said to insert disk. Still no play after burn, but plays fine on the computer. Could it be something to do with 64 bit OS?

Only if the firmware for your burner is wrong for Vista 64.
When I got my first XP machine I could burn most data etc. but not all. once I updated the firmware, I could do all.
Maybe check the firmware and then login to the HP site and see what they offer for driver updates etc. Does HP have free support? Maybe someone there can help.
I repeat there is no finalizing to do with a music cd done in the audio program and "cda" is the proper extension.
I sure hope that you get it going and please let us know the fix if you do. This post seems to have generated a lot of attention.

I just don't understand what's going on. This is a brand new computer and WMP, I would believe, would be setup for it. On the other hand Roxio might not be, since it was on my last computer which was a 32 bit OS. Like I said before, the DVD Player/Recorder will play them all, but the DVD players won't, or the car CD player won't. It is funny that if I can burn a CD on a 32 bit system and it works fine on all players and if burned on a 64 bit system, and it only plays on the newest player that it has to do with something with the 64 bit system, but the firmware? I just don't know!

C

its more likely that either the session hasn't been closed (a setting in the software) or some other software problem. when you burn them what format are you burning them in?

What do you mean what format am I burning them in. WMP and Roxio are the software, and it seem very strange that they both would be causing the problem. But, to ease your mind, both are set to finalize the disc

Are you burning mp3 files?

I've used WMP and Roxio to burn my wma file to CD the are converted to regular cda format on the burnt CD's. Windows Media Player makes temporary copies of the WMA and/or MP3 files in your burn list, converts the copies to another format (known as PCM), and then saves the converted copies to the disc as cda. Roxio also burns audio CD's. Is this what you wanted to know?

My Computer

Your cd's will work straight up if you rip the cd's to mp3. Virtually all players can work with this format. If you keep the music on your pc, use a lossless format. Looks like the .wma isn't converting properly.
