I just reread your original post. Click on the white speaker with the red x. On the bottom of the resulting screen, you will see a speaker with a red x on it. click on that. The red x should disappear and you should have sound.

    Re: no sound

No Sound for me either. When I run a test on 2-High Definition Audio device (it is checked in green) the meter is bouncing but no sound???? I uninstalled one of the two realtek programs - well, now I don't see anything realtek, I may have uninstalled the other. Do you have the link to re-install realtek??

This seems to be a BIG problem - The Geek Squad dude said I probably needed a new sound card. I am thinking it is something you Smart People can fix?????????????????

Did you get a CD with the mobo drivers with your system? If so, it should be on there. That would be for the onboard sound chipset.

Do you have a discrete sound card?

This is where the Realtek drivers are- http://www.realtek.com.tw/

A discrete card is one that you have to install on the motherboard. Most motherboards come with integrated audio chipsets.

I would install v6.250. The only problem i have is that the site lists US1, US2, and US3 and I don't know what that means. I didn't try to find out at the website.

My computer is Stock so, No Discrete Card. My speaker systems is 5 Creative speakers, 4 are 4"x4" and one is a base/junction box 8"x8" The patch cord (2 plugs, Green/Black) run from the base/junction box to the computer. The 4 little speakers plug into the base/junction box as well as a control (on/off) volume dial. When you turn the dial on the light still comes on, power is running through the system. When a CD or a video is played all the audio meters bounce as if I am hearing it BUT - No sound! No Hum? Nothing out of the speakers! Like they are all disconnected or all muted?? HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
