Fondy 30-point buck is state record

The 30-point buck taken by Wayne Schumacher in September has been established as the Wisconsin record non-typical white-tailed deer taken by a bowhunter.

Schumacher shot the buck Sept. 20 while hunting on private land near Eldorado in Fond du Lac County.

The non-typical rack was dried for the required 60 days and measured Saturday by a team of certified scorers, earning the record-setting score of 243 6/8 inches.

Schumacher, 52, knew the rack would score high but wasn't certain it would be a record.

“It hasn’t sunk yet," said Schumacher. "It’s unreal."

It's been a couple of record-setting years for Wisconsin archery hunters. Schumacher’s buck beats the record set in 2008 by Bob Decker of Eau Claire. Decker's 16-pointer measured 233 2/8 inches.

According to reports, it took two teams of certified scorers three hours to measure the rack of Schumacher's buck.

wow......... nice :D there was a guy around here the other day killed the second largest non-typical buck in North Carolina..... sadly he did it spotlighting (which is illegal) and now the state has confiscated it..... (along with his truck and brand new gun :p) but haha very nice :D

Thats Impressive, I have seen some old pictures from the 1920-1930s here in New Zealand of some 26 & 28 point Reds but now a 18 pointer is classed as a good head

My biggest surprise is that, unlike most, this one's rack isn't all messed up and ugly.
It seems like these oddball ones are usually a big mess,crappy looking. This one actually looks really good.

I'd hang that baby up for sure.:D
