I don't remember what it looks like, but if you mouse over it, it should say "Antivirus Suite" I think.

Start, in the search box type in cmd and press enter. A black box will pop up, that is the command prompt.

In the command prompt type in sfc /scannow and press enter, windows will then be looking for core components that have been damaged.

Make sure that you are connected to your network, it takes a bit of trial and error.

Malware can also corrupt winsock (the thing that manages internet), in the command prompt type in: netsh winsock reset and press enter and restart the computer.

You can also try powercycling the modem/router, unplug the modem and/or router for 30 seconds, and plug back the modem, wait for 30 more seconds and plug the router back in.

Once everything is back to normal, i recommend that you use Avast! 5 home edition for free, it is a great antivirus/antispyware/antirootkit/program behavior analyzer.

I cannot connect to the proxy (i think thats what you call it) the message i receive on the computer is: (firefox)
The proxy server is refusing connections
Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.

• Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are in contact.

Answer the set of questions. Try connecting to the internet by wired connection so see what happens. If you can get a connection wired, then it is something to do with your wireless receiver and then we can work on what we know what is wrong. Also, try using another browser (chrome, internet explorer, opera), so we can rule out browser settings. Which browser do you mainly use (internet explorer, google chrome, mozilla firefox, opera)?

In firefox go to tools>options>network>settings>and tick the radio button that says no proxy

Anyways, why were you on a proxy, maybe that is the reason you got a virus (you can't just give your IP addresss to any proxy without researching first).

A proxy server is a server that when you connect to, it gives you access to the internet indirectly, through the proxy (almost like a middleman to the internet). With that, websites can't get your IP address, because it will show the proxy's IP address (in a nutshell that is what a proxy is). I think you got a virus because you were connected to a malicious proxy server.
