I meant to say I didn't have everest installed on 7 yet. Sorry i thought it showed RAM voltages too. So many monitoring apps...easy to get confused :0

By now you've probably reset your CMOS etc. Any luck?

I'd hold off formatting as it's most likely unessescary to do so and is a PITA you could probably do without right now.

Ohhh, lol, my bad. Thanks Skunk.

Just did the jumper trick, switched it over for 20 seconds (which should be long enough for a reset, correct?)...after that, I forgot to plug in my front control panel power thing, and my rig wouldn't shut on...almost had a heart attack...:shock::shock: lol

Anyways, got it up and running... However, DRAM voltage still reads 1.66 in Hardware Monitor...Couldn't find a reading in Everest (got Everest working at least! ;))...12v still seems a little high, I think I may check my power supply today (if possible).

Next step is to revert to a different BIOS, I guess...people HAVE been complaining about 1102 over-volting things, but this seems a bit absurd...thoughts? I'm almost at a loss...

Running BURN TEST again...I have to keep downloading and re-installing it for it to work...kinda odd...I ran it 5 times, with all passes and 8 times with all passes...I'm now gonna do 15 times...If it passes this, I'm ruling out CPU and RAM. Thoughts? (Oh, temps right now are at 55-60c...when I first ran prime95 my temps went to almost 70, but now they seem to stay right around 55c...I wonder if my CPU is now voltage-limited since I manually set it to 1.23v...should I start upping the voltage soon? Wow, this is a long ramble, lol)...

The restarts were happening with my old BIOS, so it seems odd to go back a step...I mean, it would still be 2 BIOSes ahead of the BIOS my mobo shipped with, but I dunno...

Anyways, how would I stress-test my GPU to see if its the problem?

Oh, and what should my "memory clock" be reading in EVEREST? In all of the programs I've looked at, my memory Mhz is always around 600Mhz, never at 1333...I dunno if this is a problem or not...

Thanks man,

Sal

I'm running BURN TEST as we speak...whoop, it just ended. I've run INTEL BURN TEST 3 times overall, and the results are as follows: RUN 1: 5 times, all passed. RUN 2: 8 times, all passed. RUN 3: 15 times, all passed. All tests were done on the most strenuous setting. (RUN 3 took about 1.5 hrs, and I would say my total time would be around 3 hours).

I've run MEMTEST86+ for like, 11 hours straight, and prime95 (blend) for 12 hours straight, both with no errors.

just got a message from asus (!!!!!!!)...they said it was either the power supply, or the board's power management. How would I test the board's power management?

Thanks mang,

SJ

The fact that IBT, P95 and memtest are passing without errors tends to eliminate CPU and RAM from the equation. More voltage to the CPU won't be necessary ;)

If ASUS think it's either the PSU or power mangaement then they must aware of 'known issues'. Apart from disabling features in Power>APM configuration, I really wouldn't know how to test it

In Ai Tweaker, check that your DRAM frequency is set to DDR3 1333mhz. 600mhz sounds like it's at 1200mhz.... (Your over all speed is divided by two. 1333mhz should show at 666 or 667)

What does it show in CPU-Z under the memory tab?

It might be time to consider returning either your PSU or MOBO. If whatever you replace first still gives you the problem, then the other component is at fault. Or it's still something else entirely... I hope you kept you receipts :p

Good news and bad news.

The good: I think I found it...:D...just checked my PS and all kinds of alarms started sounding...the 12v2 was showing no voltage? I dunno...

The bad: Its my PS, which means I have to return the thing! Ahh! Oh, and right after I checked the 24 pin, I promptly fried my PS checker by plugging in a 6 pin, as well as the 24! Ahh!:cry:

Well, I hope that this will solve the problem, but who knows. When I get this thing up and running I'm gonna put a little Australian flag sticker on the side of my rig, as a TESTAMENT TO THE WISDOM OF SMARTEYEBALL!:party::geek: Lol, now if I can only find an Australian flag sticker lying around...

lol, well, my rig's dead for probably about a week. I'll keep in touch, troll the forum, and let you know how things progress.

All the best,

Sal

TESTAMENT TO THE WISDOM OF SMARTEYEBALL!:party::geek:

Lol, I like that ;)

Sorry to hear about you frying your PS tester :(

Fingers crossed that a new PSU does the trick. I'm hoping that you get your rig up and running almost as much as you now :)

Then once it is, you can start overclocking!:D

Yep, keep trawling and keep up with the updates ;)

It's gonna be a long week for you Sal. Hopefully a week worth the wait :) :p

i just had to reply to this message after reading it. very helpful!! i myself have bought a new pc in the past 6 months (asus mb) and just recently it started crashing like crazy. this would only happen while gaming and usually after about 20-30min.

i updated all drivers, defragged, freed up space, the whole nine yards and was just about to reinstall the os, when i opened up the case... and saw how coated everything was in dust. The cpu fan was COMPLETELY congested!! I cleaned all the dust off i could and got the cpu completely clear.

NO CRASHES!!! :D

i am soooo happy :D:D

seriously, if you havent done so yet and are experiencing some crashes (particularly while gaming when the hardware is being heated up alot) CHECK INSIDE FOR DUST CLOGGAGE!!! this fixed me and im so stoked. :) cheers
