BSOD after updating and put into sleep mode

Im talking about unplugging any externals that you may have. Just plug them back in when done. Things like speakers, etc.

So, I tried installing it in safe mode. All that happened was, it showed the loading symbol for about 30 seconds, then went away. No install box came up after.

What do I do now?

You could alway try a system restore, but I have my doubts. If you did not change anything recently, there is a conflict between software in your computer. It would not be changed by System Restore.

I don't believe so. This problem started after I updated programs and such (from the Vista update thing?) a while back. But, I thought I fixed it by updating my Intel Wifi driver. But then it started up again even though I don't remember updating anything else after that. I did update my VLC to the latest player but that was after the second time my laptop was acting up.

OK can you get into safe mode still?

If you can how far back are your restore points..

Yes, I can still access safe mode. Am I supposed to be doing the restore while in safe mode and not regular mode? I believe I have restore points from before the update. Should I be looking for a point before the problem originally occured or when it started happening again?

I'm not too sure if this makes a difference in trying to diagnose the problem but, it actually works when I put the laptop on hibernate without restarting yet when I put it to sleep it restarts. Does this make a difference?

Oh, and using my computer normally isn't a problem. Everything works/runs fine and same as usual. The only problem is that when I put it to sleep it has restarted when I 'wake' it back up.

Hi,

sorry for the late reply. I tried doing a system restore but it would only go back as far as 1.5 weeks (but my problem started over a month ago from that time). I was hoping it would be ok to leave it since it would hibernate but not sleep. The today, it completely crashed on me and took me the whole evening to even get the computer to start up. Any help on being able to go back even further in my system restore points?

I know I've made restore points but I don't know where they save and I don't know how to access them other then through:
"start" -> Programs -> system tools -> system restore

I also tried googling how to get to an older restore point but nothing came up.
