Solved BSOD critical service failed 0x0000005A

No one can tell you what happening, but if the hard drive is bad that would be one explanation.

Yes, of course. But how to be sure ?

By the way, what can I do for now ?

HDAT fixed one of the 2 errors, only 1 error remain at this moment.

Great news, rich !

I think I don't have anymore these Shut down unexpectedly . I can do it a surface scan with HDAT on Dos Mode.

Yes, on yesterday night, I re-format again my HD, but this time, a low-level format. It seems that the shut down has been fixed. I will waiting a few hours and test it again, to be sure. Maybe, at the end, it was a malware ?

The bad news, I still have one bad sector on my HD.

Again, potential indication of a bad hard drive. Just to be sure make sure there is not CD/DVD in the drive.

If it were my computer, I would try to reinstall Windows. If it did not work, I would know that it was a hardware problem and would take the appropriate action. If I could not fix it I would bring it in. If old, I would think about a new rig.

Thanks for your advise, Rich !

I've a few questions :

Do I create a MBR and create partitions before installing the Fujitsu Recovery DVD or do you think that the Recovery DVD will do it ?

Hi again,

I'm in contact with a tecnical from Fujitsu.

He told me that the shut down issue could be related to the batteries, the adaptor or the CPU Intel temperature too high.

My laptop again shut down unexpectedly when running bad sectors checking program on MS DOS at boot. This time after 30 minutes.

How strange is, when I stay on surfing with Mini Xp (Hirens Boot cd) for hours or running programs, the computer doesn't shut down.

Hi rich,

Are you there ? I could fix the bad cluster, my HDD is fine now. Yesterday night, I leave my computer during all the night running with a repair program and it doesn't shut down.

I suspected maybe my Ethernet Controller, that I downloaded from their website date signed on 2011. For my old Amilo, I think it's too much. Anyway, I swich off ethernet cable to run this program all the night. Today, I still check my HDD with others programs, and all is fixed. I hope my computer won't shut down.

I create a partition c: and every time I boot up, I have this message : NTLDR is missing

Is that normal as I have'nt yet installed Vista ?

Thanks for this article !

It's said : "Note: If you find that this is the cause of your problem and it's happening a lot, you might want to consider changing the boot order in BIOS so the hard drive with Windows installed is listed first."

I've not yet installed Vista.

Maybe because I've not created any MBR, don't you think so ?

Although I am here giving advice, I dont know everything. It is my understanding, however, that when you install the OS, the MBR is installed, also.

Hi rich,

Finally, I installed Vista Business.

With 'windows update', I'm updating all the major updates.

By the way, could you tell me if the first account I created when installing Vista was a normal admin or hidden built-in admin account ? How to check it ?

About the Fujitsu Recovery DVD, it's in fact a Vista Business Installation CD.

Thanks for your help !

Hi Rich,

I've little question about partitions:

Could I shrink my C: drive to get 2 Go more ? I've not yet installed any program, only windows update files. Is that possible ?

Thanks in advance !

The best way to check is to make a new adminstrator account. Then try to disable the firat administrator account. If it does not disable it is a normal adminstrator account.

You cannot change a partition that is in current use. If you want to change it the best way is to reinstall the OS, using the DVD and then when given the choice change the p[artition size
Be sure to boot from the DVD and not the OS.
