I have a HP Dv7 laptop and my cpu runs at 2.1 GHz. Model is RM-72 Turion X2. The laptop doesnt even run hot or anything like that. Even after days upon days of contast usage(considered a desktop replacement laptop). I use it for 3D CAD(SolidWorks) and I was hoping to reduce my model genereation times by increasing my CPU clock speed. I attempted to use the AMD Overdrive program from AMD GAME and everytime I use it my pc locks up instantly.
Am I either using the program wrong or is it not possible to increase its CPU speed? Also is there even a reason for doing this, what else can I gain out of like .3 or .4 GHz? How much of a difference does that make?

As you said HP has everything locked out on my BIOS. I cant change anything regarding CPU clock speed, multiplier, or even memory frequency. I guess I getting anywhere with this .
