Lets try the ipconfig renew thing, Go to start, all programs, accessories, command prompt, right click that to run as admin, then in that command prompt , type this , then enter, then type the other command and then enter, then lets see if you can connect this time : ipconfig /release , ipconfig /renew

So i disconected from wifi and connected the ethernet cable. entered the command in the command promt and it is saying that no operation can be performed on wireless network connection while media is disconnected. ! have i done this right

Then go back wireless while we troubleshoot this.

Seems to be that network card, Do this , reconnect the cable, then do the Network and Sharing , diagnose and repair one more time, In the meantime, give me the make and model number of that laptop .

Thanks. There are 7 drivers but i only downloaded 1st 2 on the list as i thought the others are not relavant.

Great, now make a restore point, then go to Device manager , and open up the network driver and uninstall the one that applies to this issue , then have it install the new one.
