Can't ''x'' out pages without using task manager

Too many tries in closing out pages "x" just pings and pings when you use the curser on it to close. I know I can use Ctl, Alt, Delete then use task manager,
to end task.........but why do I have to do this so often?

What are you trying to exit out of?
What will work and what wont?

Also when it doesnt work, what are you doing? (listening to music, watching a movie/video)

just seems to do that whenever I'm on any site and want to get out. It just refuses to close and I have to use task manager.........I shouldn't have to do that.
