Solved copy drivers to cd usb hdd

Those seem to be from Acer, only they can provide them.
I think that the bottom line is that you have to make a decision.
Either
Keep what you have
Perform a factory restoration
Format and lose some of the programs.

Make a restore point first. Things can and do go wrong. If Driver Max does not install properly, you do not like it or just want to get rid of it, you will be glad that you have a restore point. This is always good policy.

That ISO is the one that I give out when a member wants to reinstall, but some have experienced problems. If you get it to work, would you help other members by telling us exactly what steps you took.
I would not trust the automatic system restore, it does not always happen.

The problem has always been the same, the CD does not boot. Some indicated that it worked with no problems.
Now the good news. We have a Dell employee as a member, Im sure he can help if there are problems. If you have a problem, post and I will get him to help us out.

so if its only when a cd is created? could the ppl who are having probs with cd not try using the usb bootable thumb method? just a thought?
but when using imgburn i had to really take my time and research the steps as they could of been clearer when it came to inputting the values (like where there are 2 browse folder buttons) i know its highlited in red but could be easily missed when it came to the browse folder button for finding the etfsboot. file.

worth mentioning. first time i downloaded the digi river iso. the size was only small file 2nd time i downloaded it was much larger? thought it was strange at the time but just deleted the smaller and used the bigger could be that thats causing probs?

but then borrowed a copy of retail disc with sp2 in it so decided to go with that rather than the digi river sp1.iso
so never got to test the digi river one.

im going to do the re-install today.

before i proceed there was a couple of things i would like to clarify.
i have used driver max to back up drivers (in zip file) to a usb thumb drive.
i used back up all drivers option (is that ok or shud i just have picked certain ones?) and same question for restoring them do i just restore all of them or just the ones that arent done after windows re-installs?
and do i restore drivers before any windows updates or after windows updates ?

also on the subject of vista iso installation problems using the dell comunity tutorial and software (wich is method and software ill be using) could it be that the "Microsoft .iso to USB/DVD tool" is only compatible with windows 7 iso ?

if you think there is any weight to that please let me know and i will re-think my re-install method before going ahead with the thumb drive i created. using Microsoft .iso to USB/DVD tool

thanks again

The iso problem seems to be with the boot. That would not be a vista v seven problem. You are better off going with the sp2. You avoid dozens of updates.

thanks for the tips and guides etc

we were talking the other day and you mentioned something regarding macrium reflect is this like a back up software. "bad i know but i have never used or needed any" but am giving it some serious thought after going through that install and all (130+) updates etc
dont want to go through it all again in a hurry.

also its rather a small pc (power wise) but its taking quite a long time to boot up. i have a laptop of similar spec (laptop intel celeron 540 1.86ghz 2gb ram vista basic) and that boots considerably quicker than this one (net-top intel atom n230 1.6ghz 2GB ram vista home premium) laptop boots in under 1 min nettop maybe 3 mins and dosent even display picture to monitor/lcd tv for 1min or more of that 3 mins? any advice tips on speeding up boot time?

thanks again

I thank you, too for your cooperation in an attempt to help others. Regarding your Boot problem, in order for you to get the best service from our Great Forum, may I suggest that you start a new thread with a new subject title. By doing so, others that may have answers my give adivce, too. This will not preclude from offering any helpful suggestions as well.
Macrium Is great software (that I use and has saved me). Make updates monthly so you always have a current one. If you have problem, just reinstall with the image, which includes updates, programs and everything else.

method used to perform clean install of vista os using .iso bootable usb

items/software required :
working windows pc/laptop to create .iso and format and create bootable thumb drive
Retail vista install disc.
usb thumb drive (min. 4GB) "needs to be formatted"
imgburn software
Microsoft .iso to USB/DVD tool
driver max to back up drivers
________________________________________________________________
downloads
The Official ImgBurn Website
Microsoft Store Online
Driver update - Use DriverMax to update all your Windows PC drivers
________________________________________________________________

i used a vista retail disc with sp1 and sp2 incuded on the disc

IMGBURN to create the iso image of the vista retail disc.
(clear instructions how to achive this here.)

i then formated the 4GB usb thumb drive using windows (my computer right click format) select quick format and restore defaults then click format. once the format had completed i then used the iso i had created using imgburn along with Microsoft .iso to USB/DVD tool
to create a bootable usb windows installation thumb drive

and thats it you should have now created your bootable vista.iso bootable thumb drive...

i hope this tool helps you and good luck...
