Dell Vista X32 Won't hibernate, sleep, shut down when lid is closed

The problem that I am having is that I want to be sure. You received a notice that you cannot do a restore because not enough space. Then you show me windirstat showing 99%. Even your second shot the word percentage does not indicate used or remaining.
Do you know how to check the amount on the drive, just with your computer?

Go to search and type
windows explorer
In the pane on the left click on computer.
It will show your drives.
Give me a shot of it.

Here you go....

This might of also helped me see a potential issue......I noticed on the right hand side the .bin files are all associated with my GM Tuning software editor- HP Tuners. Could that be causing/part of the issue? The wrench is what caught my attention. Typically most of HPT's files are .HPT, .HPL, .CFG, .HST,

No sir. I keep getting that same error. I just tried to create one using system restore, as well as the backup center and no dice on either.

Ok, I followed the destructions, and it won't let me change allocated- only max size.....GRRRR!!!

I attached so you could see the commands I used.

Did I miss something? What do I change Maxsize to get it to adjust the allocated? I didn't see it in the tutorial. I've been known to look with my eyes closed, too.

Turn it on
System Restore

If it is on turn it off, boot and turn on this will reset SR.
Try to make a restore point, it should work. The allocated space will change after you make a point.

Taken from the tutorial To change Maximum Size; not allocated size.

Check to make sure that you did the Run as administrator in step 3. From the tutorial

Plus, you should type:

vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: /Maxsize=5GB

instead of:

vassadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C:/On=C:/Maxsize=5GB
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76227-system-restore-disk-space.html

If done correctly this will change the maximum size only.
Make a point and the allocated amount should change.
I have consolidated two posts into one to make things clearer.

Hope this helps,

.

I just tried it- SR was turned on. I turned off, clicked apply, and rebooted.

Turned it back on, tried to create a restore point, and no dice.

I tried running it several times, and it still won't budge. I've gotten into the habit of 'right clicking' to run as admin. Tried running the commands several times, each time in a new command prompt window.

I'll see if maybe I need to turn SR off, reboot, and turn back on a few times to get it to work?

Trying to turn on and off a few times will not help.
I know, now, that it is set up correctly we did it together. There is something that is preventing the System Restore from working
Try a clean boot, lets see if some startup software is causing the problem.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Go to search type services
Make sure that Volume shadow copy services is set to manual
and that Remote Procedure call is set to automatic and running

Go to search type event viewer
in viewer go to administrative left panel then look for errors that mention restore or happened at the time you could not make the points

I think that I hit on something. Go back to windirstat. We were concentrating on the c drive and it has plenty of room. I bet that you have restore set up for all the drives. Some are not large enough to make a point.
Make sure Restore is off for every drive but c
Be sure that the points are being kept on C

Edit: I checked its being kept on C

I don't know in regards to SR, but in backup, the only store location it gives me is E (MediaDirect) or my DVD drive.

Also, SR doesn't see any other drive as you said above.

I'll start on the clean boot and see what happens.
