disc clean-up not working

under the system stability chart there is: software Uninstalls, application failures, hardware failures, windows failures, miscellaneous failures. and on the application failures there are so many red x, and also on the miscellaneous failures with red x. and on the software uninstalls there are few yellow color "!" and with respective dates.

Look for the disk cleanup entries and run that .bat file.

there is no disc cleanup what is here is cleanmgr.exe and its plenty and it says stopped working... what is .bat file?

The .bat file will run chkdsk in readonly mode to see if your hard disk had bad sectors. Right-click it and select run as administrator.

hi frostmourne, im back from work. i did your instructions last night but nothing happen, still disc cleanup not working. i went to event viewer and there are lots of errors on the administrative events and also on the diagnostic performance operational there are also lots of errors

Can you go to your C:\ drive and look for results.txt? Do any of the errors stand out?

Towards the bottom of the text file, what does it say? Does the disc have any errors?

Open up your C:\ drive in Windows Explorer and look for Results.txt.

on windows explorer all is there are my files i cant find any results .txt.

Re-run the .bat file as administrator. It should create a file in your C:\ drive. Have you installed SP2?

im sorry i dont know how to re-run the .bat file and service sp2 i think i already installed it i rcvd the updates

If everything else works, ignore disk cleanup. Wait for Windows 7 in less than a month. That will probably fix it. Apart from this are you having any other problems?
