Display off to the left

This may not be a problem with any windows component or your GPU, but your monitor. Sometimes, when the graphics device sends a signal to the monitor that isnt aware that its being sent a signal (like coming out of sleep, but it shouldnt), and incorrectly displays the given image. Now you can try to just hit reset on your monitor's OSD settings and see if your monitor auto-adjusts the image back to its normal state or you can see if there is a monitor Color profile and Driver for your LG flatron.

My screen is an Acer P243W that has VGA, DVI, and HDMI connections and can be set up with a driver as well, but only if i want my monitor to control my desktop scaling and not my GPU. Still it does what yours is doing, but not as often.

ok, I think I'm closing in on a solution, but this is not "dummy" enough for me.
Win7 64bit 9800GTX+ DVI to HDMI LG monitor screen off centered, can't access Start button - NVIDIA Forums

I can enter the regedit
I can find the folder referred to
and there it stops, I must be doing something wrong, since it's not working for me.
If anyone can pass me a more detailed description on how to enter a key it would be appriciated.
Also I'm pretty sure I need another set of "codes" then the ones he presents in the post.. since he does'nt have the excact same monitor.

if anyone knows how this works please let me know
cheers
Mort

OK, here goes. I can't tell if the values quoted are correct (these are from the link you provided), but I can tell you how to enter them into the registry.

First of all, open the registry editor by clicking the Start Orb, typing regedit into the search box and then press Ctrl Shift Return. Enter administraive credentials when prompted. This is because the key involved is in the HKLM branch, and modifying the contents of this branch must be done from within an account with administrative privileges.

Browse to the required key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

In the right-hand pane, right-click and select New > Binary Value. Give this the name EDIDFlags0.

With the cursor on the name you have just created, right-click and select Modify Binary Data... Next, enter the following data: 1e 6d 3f 56 00 00 ff ff 04 00 00 00 7e 01 00. Note that you do not need to enter spaces, the cursor automatically moves with each block of 2 digits.

When you have correctly entered the data, click OK and then close the registry editor and reboot in order for the changes to take effect.

A good pictorial link, Ardneh. Remember though, that since the key involved is in the HKLM branch, the registry editor needs to be invoked with administrative credentials as I described previously. This is something that they have neglected to mention.

Thanks guys, that helped alot, Now I'm sure I have the right place.. now I just need the right code string.
Found this nifty program called "Phoenix EDID designer" which lets you extract the string.. now here's the trick for me.. it gives me much more information than I need.. I've included a print screen of the extraction from my monitor, I've highlighted the one I've tried (simply because it's the first line) but that did'nt seem to do anything.. does anyone know which one to use?

cheers for all the help
