Do you prefer gaming on console or PC?

Fourth, Consoles are cheaper (if its just gaming your looking at) and come with vast accessories.

Which tend to end up negating the 'cheaper' variable once you start buying stuff :p

(Dusty no longer used MS wheel, I'm looking in you're direction ;))

I don't know, would it?

Everybody here is talking about upgrading PC's to have the good stuff.

Lets say you buy an HP Desktop ($500)
Then upgrade RAM to 4 GB ($100)
Upgrade your CPU to.. lets say 2.5 Ghz ($50-$100)
Upgrade Graphics ( Mine was $150, could get to $250)
A nice gaming keyboard & Mouse ($50)

Thats A nice, fat $900, and I doubt that you won't get more.

Don't forget that gorgeous 21" Screen for $200, eh?

Gaming Consoles hook up to your TV, no extra screen needed.

PC Games are cheaper, aye ($20 - $30), compared to console games ($50), but just rigging your PC to be good enough (To your standards) will cost you more than a dozen or two games.

lol, I was joking mate. Obviously PC gaming will cost more in the long run. You can't upgrade a console.... ;)

Gaming Consoles hook up to your TV, no extra screen needed.

Ahh, not quite true in all cases. I had an SD TV that I hooked my 360 up to. While SD was fine for the first xbox, it didn't cut the mustard with the 360. I bought a 24" Dell (for silly dollars at the time) primarily for the 360. The fact that it also doubled as a HDTV and PC monitor was just a bonus :p

Yeah, I don't all much look towards upgrading my console, its made like it is and if the games made need more, then they have problems and need to be changed to fit the consoles hardware. (Meaning you don't have to worry about a PC not being able to handle the game).

Maybe so, but after all its standard Definition and you might need to start rolling the stone with technology these days.

One day you buy the 360 or Wii with an HDTV and then in two years all the consoles are using a "Newly invented TV".

For all we know we could have a new TV that all consoles will adore in future years.
And besides, you want a good display whether it be a PC or console, and as said "Consoles evolve, so do PC's, and we need to evolve our hardware and accessories accordingly" iTragedy:Vistax64Forums:Gaming

yep, agreed, but wait a second, $300 for a decent hd console with no HDTV to play on? let me buy a 48" 1080p tv for my beloved console $1000+ ohhh hang on a second, maybe it would be cheaper buying a pc afterall :zip:
Definitely my Console.

First of all, (I know this isn't for all PC games.. but..) I like to have a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse.

Secondly, Each PC games hogs some good deal of space on your hard drive after installation, with consoles its not a problem since there are game Discs.

Third, Consoles have generally been more reliable when it comes to online play for me (and easier).

Fourth, Consoles are cheaper (if its just gaming your looking at) and come with vast accessories.

Fifth, Consoles come with standard graphics, RAM, & CPU, meaning if your not the person who really has time to deal with their PC speed, etc, Its already there for you.

And Sixth, Consoles are portable, I would game in numerous locations, and if you have a desktop for gaming (Which about most do) you know you cant carry it.

I could even play my console in an RV with a portable DVD player, but not a PC..

EDIT!
Also, PC's are not the machine to play multiplayer when your friends come over unless you have a game that has multiplayer, supports controllers, and you actually have 4 USB Controllers.
Consoles are Controller required, and they are built for multiplayer with friends, (if its not online).

Thats why :]

firstly, look up games for windows accessories, anything xbox can be connected to pc, including wireless pads and cameras

secondly, xbox has started doing the same, and TB hard drives have been reduced to $200

thirdly, wow, reliable network service? try playing call of duty 4 on Xbox live and tell me its reliable.

fourthly, look at reply above.

fifth, its a good feeling when your friends come round and are completely stunned when you show them that your pc can be used as a media center, storage center, music studio, gaming center, working environment, socialisation tool when you are stuck indoors on cold wet days, information center, etc...

sixth, gaming laptops :D, Asus do a nice set and so do Dell.

and your edit: I was playing guitar hero 3 with my friend about a week ago with his and my wireless guitar connected to my gaming reciever. NO extra ports needed.

And to that I say, an If you care so much as to buy a good screen for your PC, why wouldn't you do it for your console? DON'T FORGET, You can connect your PC to an HDTV, no? You can watch TV (duh) on your HDTV, no?
It has three functions, and don't tell me that most PC screens are the same. STANDARD PC Screens- since your booing on HDTV.

Did you not see me say "I know this is not for all PC Games", but the fact remains that not all PC games will actually support the controller.
secondly, xbox has started doing the same, and TB hard drives have been reduced to $200
Maybe they have, but thats all they hold unless you put some music and movies, even then, your computer holds dozens of other programs and information that take away from game space - its not very dedicated towards gaming.
thirdly, wow, reliable network service? try playing call of duty 4 on Xbox live and tell me its reliable.
I have COD4 and I play it on XBOX Live, I have never been kicked off of a server.
Besides, I have had more annoying little kinks on my PC with connecting to a server to game (even my wireless network) than I ever had with my console.
fifth, its a good feeling when your friends come round and are completely stunned when you show them that your pc can be used as a media center, storage center, music studio, gaming center, working environment, socialisation tool when you are stuck indoors on cold wet days, information center, etc...
Its even better when you don't have to waste a load of money to get your PC to the point where it can handle so much and still overload it with petty games that could easily go onto a $300 counterpart.

Seriously, what about people with 80GB Hard drives? Once they put on all of their necessities and Their Docs, their hard drive has no space for Games!
sixth, gaming laptops :D, Asus do a nice set and so do Dell.
Maybe so, but gaming laptops are still not as reliable as a console when it comes to speed, graphics and assurance. Also, check above reply. - Although you already read it.
and your edit: I was playing guitar hero 3 with my friend about a week ago with his and my wireless guitar connected to my gaming reciever. NO extra ports needed.
Once again, not all games are controller compatible *clap clap* hurrah, you found something that is, it doesn't mean everything is, and.. Can you carry that PC around with you to play at his house?
Oh, what is that? He has to install the game on his PC just to play it?
Thats a shame, because I just need to put in a CD and go.

Absolutly PC! You can do more than just play games and the graphics and configurability (if that's a word...lol) go way beyond a console.

I've had consoles but always went back to the PC.

it doesnt cost $100 to upgrade to 4gb of ram................dude i live in the UK where pc parts cost alot more...and it would cost me £20 ($30) to upgrade from 800mhz ddr2 2GB ram
to
800mhz ddr 4GB ram

gaming keyboard and mouse? they are not 100% needed, i bought my very comfortable wireless mouse for £8 ($15ish)and my keyboard ..not wireless or very special....but i personally dont need it, cost me about £2 ($3-4)

my rig (including 17" monitor..) cost me around £350-370 ($530) as i custom built it.
and also
you are forgetting the fact that PC's can also be used for everything else.....they are not limited to gaming.

not many people will buy a desktop pc and then remove most of the parts to put new ones in....

edit: forgot to mention, xbox 360 controllers can be used in around 90% of pc games anyway, and the fact that alot of people :) dont pay for there pc games ...............shame on them

Well, thing is, it's easier to connect to the internet on a PC, espescially if you want to play a game that has an online chat feture (e.g Star Wars Battlefront II). Thing with stuff like Xbox, Playstation etc. is that there kinda hard to connect.

If you really want my answer, then my answer is the PC.

Thank you for everything you've done for me in the past years. I'm sorry that games require much more than you're capable of, but you'll never be forgotten as my first personal computer <3
I would have to say I prefer PC. Both have there Pros and Cons. I used to play nothing but Console, after I got a comp good enough to handle gaming I rarely use a console. Now the PS3 is an amazing console and , if I could afford it, I would definitly not play as much on the PC. I do love my PC and everything I can do with it. Now the Wii is also fun, my kids and myself love the thing but I like to play my hardcore shooters and things like that on the PC. I have gotten so used to the keyboard and mouse set up a controller just doesn't feel right. So I would have to say PC.

Hi all,

Built a rig almost a year ago and spent a lot of money with it (see specs). And even the PC version of Pro evolution soccer 2009 is **** big time compared to the PS3 counterpart for e.g. There are many other games whose ports to PC haven't been much good success.

But nothing can beat the feeling of a good solid operating system installed properly(Windows 7 soon hopefully!) and gaming on it at max settings! This is where the console gets boring.

**** is my preferred games play better on console than on pc!
Looking forward to PS3 soon!
