Yep, those puppy teeth leave heaps of battle scars on me. It's much better when they have lost the urge to chew so much.

2 Boxers and an English Bulldog here....Will post pics later...

I had an English Bulldog who lived almost 14 years.They are great dogs.Did you know they mix them with Boxer ? They call them Valley Bulldogs :

Rawhide, a couple of Kongs and and one of those dog ropes.

That is when she isn't busy trying to chew on me.:D

I strongly suggest rawhide alternative / look a likes large pieces of rawhide when swallowed dont break down.This can lead to a whopping vet bill or even worse the lost of a loved one.

That Valley Bulldog is an interesting looking critter. I haven't seen them before.
Did you experience problems with a dog & rawhide followed by a large vet bill?

Nah but I had a friend who couldn't pay the vet bill so he had to have his dog put down I'd love to get an Olde English Bulldogge which is a recreation of what bulldogs used to be like back when they used them to fight bulls and all kinds of other stuff.They started here in the USA in the 70's.Sometimes they look a lot like a pitbull unfortunately.

Very sad about your friend's dog. I wasn't aware of problems with rawhide.

Ya he was crushed it was 9 years old I think a Chow / pitbull mix.It had a pretty good demeanor considering its lineage but was very nasty towards other dogs.

Rawhide I never knew about until I got a bulldog and asked my vet who also happened to own a couple of bulldogs what was a good chew toy.We used to give them to the german shepherd I grew up with np.

Can anyone own a pit bull where you live?
I think that people can here at the moment, but the ownership of such a dog is being debated strongly. There have been some nasty incidents recorded involving them.

Nah JMH not where I live at all.Its getting that way everywhere.People can say what they want but reality is pitbulls for a couple hundred years have been bread to fight and protect.Rotts are the same except add a couple thousand years.They could be the nicest dog in the world and have something trigger that killer instinct.Kinda like me heh that psychotic behavior boiling away in the subconscious waiting for that spark to set it off.After that there really is that little can be done to stop it once its set loose.

Prime example when I had my bulldog my uncle brought his pit to Mothers Day.He went on and on how his dog would "never" fight another dog.My dog on the other hand always wanted to fight every dog.After arguing the point with him I gave up he just had to be right.I told everyone DO NOT LET MY DOG OUT WITH THAT DOG LOOSE ! What happens I go the the restroom and hear a nasty dogfight going on.My dog was sitting by my Mom and she was very protective.My uncles pit came 2 close boom my dog attacked and his fought back.He even tried breaking up the fight with his leg and promptly got bit for his stupidity

You could easily go on and on and find many stories like this involving human and animal attacks commited by these breeds.Arguments and opinions aside these are the facts. I dunno somewhere along the line common sense has been lost and or tossed aside.I understand the need for protection and guard dogs but the owners who don't understand or know how to control such breeds have no business owning such breeds and ruin it for people who do.

Lady Char [as in Charcoal ] is a well bred Labrador who is almost four years old, very cute, obedient, well socialised & friendly. She's a delight to have around.

I like black labs a lot.Looks like you have a good 1 Only pitbull I ever trusted was mixed with black lab.They are so trainable and intelligent plus they have a great look to them.

I forget my photobucket log in and I'm 2 lazy to make another account but this is basically what my bully looked like.She had less white though and a little darker brindle.Tough little tank heh fear was not in her vocabulary :eek:

Haha ya you should see the size of my head compared to my body.When I played Pop Warner "little league" football I had to get a helmet from our High School lolz.We had a similar temper 2 laid back unless provoked and no fear to boot which isn't always a good thing :eek: She even tried picking a fight with my friends 135 lb. Rott lolz.

Bulldogs are women magnets though for some reason probably because they are so ugly they are cute heh.They also are very expressive and wiggle when they walk.Great breed in general but they do get a lot of health problems.I was very lucky mine was like 4 months away from 14 years old.The oldest ever was like 14 something.

That's a terrific age for a largish dog to get to.
I know of Labs getting to 16 years. Very old & slow but oh so wise.

Ya they only average like 8 usually.Big dog stuck in a little body you're right.They mixed the old stock 70- 100 lb dogs with pug to make them smaller and more docile.Combo that with 2 much inbreeding...You can find a lot of breeds that meet the olde bulldogge standard but they are pretty rare and expensive.

Their stock was used in a ton of breeds though.You can say that about Mastiff stock in general you could name off so many breeds your head would spin :D One of my girlfriends in HS had a pure brindle male Old English Mastiff that weighed 210 lbs. You couldn't see him at night either all the sudden you'd just hear this hella loud bark / growl mix :eek:
