here is the one from today...for some reason there is one dated 9/19/09 that is like 55MB. Maybe Malware, CCleaner or some other program created one?

Hmm, only Windows SideBar couldn't be repaired, the rest seems fine. Has anything changed on your windows pc?

Nope nothing worth noting. Been using this computer for about 7 months and it's been fine. Then suddenly one day it won't download files. No idea what's going on but I do know that I hate Windows Vista.

My Computer

You only hate what you don't know. Do you have any system restore points to go back to? What anti-virus are you using?

My furthest restore point goes back to when I installed SP2...and the problem exists when I go back to that point. Only anti-virus I had was AVG. I thought it may have been a problem with that so I uninstalled it but still didn't help.

My Computer

I'd say the last option would be to uninstall SP2 and see if that fixes it. If not it might be time for a reinstall.

Tried uninstalling SP2. Same problem. Pretty sure I know that I've learned to hate Vista. How am I supposed to reinstall when I bought my laptop with Vista preloaded?

Open up disk management by right-clicking the computer link in the start menu and select manage. Then look if there is another partition on your hard disk. If there is, you have a recovery partition, and your manual should point out which key to press on boot up. Then, just install drivers and updates + antivirus, scan and create a disk image with Macrium Reflect Free, which you can then use to reimage your hard drive if something breaks.

As for backup, back all your files up to an external 1TB drive.
