Error when Shutting down Vista ?

Okay, d@mmit. We're gonna go into task manager and shut down every process possible, other than MS process. Go into applications and end all. Look at processes and sort by user name. Do not kill System processes. After you have killed them (so much violence) you are going to shut down your computer AND we want a smooth shutdown. Or not. Let us know...

Please look in your SECURITY log. See if you get anything referring to:

The file could be corrupt due to unauthorized modification or the invalid hash could indicate a potential disk device error.

If a file is mentioned, the file could be corrupt.

Lemme know what you find.

Have no idea what's going on with Movie Maker. Claims processor is 32-bit and 64-bit. Says to use SXSTRACE.EXE "for detailed diagnosis". Might as well do that.

The manifest error is from windows movie maker. I have the same one and its not the cause. Has the windows update error disappeared? That could be the cause. As to sxstrace, I don't think its necessary here.

You could try increasing the time the computer has to shutdown processes before it actually shuts off.

start search > regedit > hit enter > accept the UAC prompt > in the left hand column highlight Computer > at the top go to edit select Find > type WaitToKillServiceTimeout it should be set to 20000 lets set it to 30000 and see if that helps at all.

Double click WaitToKillServiceTimeout > erase 20000 and type 30000 > close regedit > shutdown > power back up > still producing an error?

What mouse and keyboard are you using? Is it just a regular plug and play mouse and keyboard or did they come with a disk for drivers and software?

Agreed. If it stops the error then I would say the mouse is causing a software issue or its bad itself. If it doesn't try the keyboard as well :)

Hi All

My Saitek Eclipse II uses standard drivers from XP / Vista etc so No disc or download-able drivers there.

I'm waiting for a friend to drop round a standard mouse so I can give the
above a try.

When that happens I will let you know

Okay. I have the same driver, the one that's posting the keyboard mouse error. I'm wondering if that driver is bad. Not the hardware's drivers. Might not even be possible lol.
