Errors causing multiple crashes

Did you run the SFC 4 or 5 times yet, not sure where the check disk is coming from as I was pretty sure we were doing the file checker program .

Okay this is all I get and I cannot get it to do a Sfc scan.Ughhhh!

Its sfc /scannow
Space between sfc and / Try again.

In that elevated command prompt, type this between the arrows < sfc /scannow > notice the space between the c and the / in that command. Try it again please . then press enter after you type that .

K, now remember, IF it finds any errors, run it a few times to make sure it repairs all it can .

The usual procedure if it cant fix all errors is a repair install

Okay it said it did not find any issues in the scan. Humm so then why is there are problem with notepad or some others things I go to do and it says sysetem error I cannot download the latest Java. Hummm I am so grateful however there is not a problem.

You might want to make another Administrator account , the one you are using may be corrupted. Go to your control panel, and then open up user accounts, and make another admin account, then reboot and use the new account, see if you can get latest Java program now .

Oh , that. I answer at Bleeping Computer also. and I came across you there , and they are also waiting for you to follow instructions of running check disk and posting results. I just thought it was funny I would run across a Thread at another forum with you on it. Hopefully, Bleeping Computer or us here at Vista can assist you in this issue.

Well you never know if someone just might have the key to solve the problem. I have not been on the computer in awhile so have not responded. I cannot run it for what ever reason and I thought I posted that to you already it wont let me scan it. I did the SFC and it found nothing. My laptop seems to be working fine now except it wont let me download JAVA and such.

Strange that you can not run a check disk . what errors are showing up ?

As a rule if scan disk does not run it is an indication of a hard drive problem. Did you try a Hard Drive Diagnostic?
