Explorer problem on start and context menus and long starting programs

Neophile:

I've lost track a bit.
What type of install media do you have, at what SP level and is your current install at a
higher SP level than that?

And, is simply doing a fresh install out of the question?

Ardneh, it's OK thank you.
I have Vista Ultimate SP2 on a stand alone PC. The SP1 and SP2 have been added after installation. I usually clear installation files and I do not have a restore point of before any more. So to follow the http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html you recommended I'll have to slipstream the SPs, and anyway, as it is useful to have a DVD with them slipstreamed I would take the opportunity to do it.
Simply doing a fresh installation is what I am trying to avoid.

Hello,

I have done slipstreaming before for XP, but I couldn’t do this one for the reason I mentioned. I believe it could help because I fixed a couple of problems with earlier versions of Windows, as far as 95. But with the internet updates it never worked again.

This problem is very annoying because keeps me waiting for the computer on nearly all that is related with the explorer. However, it does not affect the computer or the work in any other way. I am not going to do a clean OS setup now because Windows 7 will be released on October 20th, so I wait a little less than two months and do the installation only once.

Even if the issue was not fixed, I thank you for the good will on the help I received.
