Get Seagate SeaTools from there and burn it to a CD plug it in and prep the drive using the tool. Use NtFS, and this will enable you to install Windows on the drive.

I did download the software called seagate disk wizard now I do have an older tower I might be able to use it but it is windows xp do I have to disconnect the old drive first?

I was able to format the hdd in a different computer but now it's telling me error 0x80070017 and that part of the install might have been corrupted what can I do
