Fan Setup for Best Airflow???

in the tempest you have plenty of room because the 120 fan way below where my cpu is.... it is actually a little below my gpu because of where my x16 slot is

Just pay attention to things like build quality, cooling, noise etc as in reviews they can mark down a case for not having enough optical drives or being ugly but if your not planning on having 5 dvd drives and you like the look of the case then thats not a problem for you

the tempest is a little noisy.... but you can get silent fans for about $10 a peice
but it is still in my room and i do sleep with it on but... bright lights haha

For airflow you could always try the Antec Skeleton.

Edit: I was using HWMonitor when I was overclocking and running my stability test. How do I know what my temperature is when I'm idle? What constitutes a system being idle?

Idling means that nothing is happening (or just about) with the CPU. Considering that this is impossible due to Windows you go to second best option.

Just close all running applications and leave it for a minute = idle temps.

It doesn't have to be scientifically accurate, it is more of a 'near enough is good enough' kind of thing.

I read somewhere that one of the most important aspects when it comes to the airflow in PC cases is that the amount of air exhausting from the system MUST NOT be higher than amount of air that the system intakes, to prevent vacuum effect, and acquiring more dust than when using the correct airflow setup

Well Majkel you read wrong

The best way of cooling a pc with fans is to have more exhauast CFM than intake CFM air flow. This causes cool air to be pulled in through all the gaps in your case. If you think back to the old pcs that only had one fan that fan was always an exhaust as "negative" pressure inside the case is the best cooling solution.

The only reasons to have more intake CFM are if your using dust filters so that you can limit the dust getting into your case or if you want to guide the intake air to specific spots within the case.

Phew..... I was afraid I was going to have to go into my case again to switch fans around. Since my jet engine fan is my exhaust fan and all others are the intake. That would mean I would need to remove my cpu heatsink and moving others around. Thank god I don't need to do that.

Without question. I just ordered another 4G's of RAM so I'll have 8G's now for my Adobe work :D. I'm still trying to make my mind up about which one though. Really not leaning in favor of any case as of yet. I'm still looking around for one as this is an important decision. Right now I'm running at about 38C on avg.

Hi Gudziel I hope you got your ram cheap as if i was you id have sold the ram you have and upgraded to 1066 ram as then you could have raised your fsb to 500 and lowered your multiplier on the cpu to 8 which would have gotten you the 4Ghz you wanted.

But anyway 38C is ok, not great but ok lol.

Pretty cheap . And good idea. I like the fact that I could push the cpu to 4.05Ghz. I'm going to see how Adobe CS4 works with 8Gb's before really being so geared towards overclocking now. And I'm really not touching it now until I get a new case. Once I get the new case I'll look into reselling the 8gig's on eBay or something.

When you post a temp screenshot you should include windows task manager with the performance tab selected so we can see uptime as well as temps as this gives a better idea of what temps are really like.

That was idle, uptime of around 10hrs when that shot was taken.
