How do these cards relate in the forms of polygons instead of frame-rates. I have an HD 3200 in my Laptop and it runs 3D CAD Software better than my NiVida Quattro FX 3700 that I have at work. And better than the HD 3850 that my friend has on his PC. Is there a reason for this?

I can play the most intense games on it with the higest settings and not have any issues at all, I was playing Fallout 3 last night on the highest settings for like 2 hours and never once lagged on the game play. How does a "Midrange" card perform that well?

Class 3 DX10 GPU's will handle most games fine-just with reduced details/framerates- as long as they are dedicated cards.
It also depends on your resolution.
You can usually get better framerates and higher settings if the screen resolution is very low. 1440x900 is a low resolution which will help you in game play.


Run fallout 3 with your native Screen Resolution of 1440X900, all settings to the highest, and tell me your framerate during heavy graphic scenes (battles/explosion, etc). Anything under 30 FPS is not ideal. you can also try benchmarking with 3dmark vantage.

In my case, I have a class 2 GPU DX9C, with a native resolution of 1920x1200, There is no way I can run my installed Crysis and Devil May Cry 4 at highest, and native resolution, but with the resolution very low, I can do ok with 30+ FPS.

They should be in the wild in about 2-3 weeks

Which will give nvidia enough time to adjust their cards... There's going to be a few lead changes in the next 6 months I think.

I have no doubt that they will be faster, but not by 50%. Not in real world performance at any rate.

Remember, those generous figures come from AMD marketing....

actually i think i found that figure as one the tom's hardware gave... haha but even 25% faster than the 4890 will be the fastest single gpu there is hands down

It will definitely be interesting to see what they can do.

Even if they are 25-50% faster, my two 4890's still aren't what you'd call slow..... although compared to these new cards, they just might be
