hard drive in stall on Vista

I have a new computer Vista Compag sr5601p Parsario
I had A Compag Windows xp. I had a Western Digital EIDE extra drive installed on it. I want to put the extra drive on my new Vista. It a sata? drive in there now. When I hook up the cables to the mother board and the hard drive and power cord to it. When I boot the machine it says Cant FInd OS Iset it as a Slave NO GO Iset it as a Master No Go Iset it with no pin in it NO GO.
PLEASE HELP ME AN OLD Man

I want to in stall a storage hard drive. EIDE Western digital. When I plug it into my mother board and hard drive and power up I get an os Error. need help
I have a Parsario Compag sr5601p Vista installed
